Cupping on infants

Thread Starter
Hi. My DS is 5 months old and very congested both nose and chest. I am thinking of taking him to a ped that specializes in chinese medicine/ herbs and was wondering if anyone had experience with 'cupping' on an infant? I know its good for releasing the 'gunk' in chest and nose, but not sure if its safe for a 5 month old.

thoughts?

thanks

I work with a chinese medicine practitioner and although he does cupping and I have seen it do good, I'm not sure if he would do it on a 5month old. I know there are other things you can do. Why don't you try calling your local chinese herbal practitioner?

There's no way I'd have cupping done on an infant or any child, even if the practicioner would do it. I've had it done several times, and though very effective, it can be borderline painful and the cups stay on for a good 10-15 minutes (and leave bruises for a week or so). I think acupressure, chiro or craniosacral would be a better choice for an infant.
