Yes... my temps are still up! AF is due today and hasn't shown yet. I took a test this morning and stared at it really, really hard, but saw nothing. I'm cautiously hoping though... its getting exciting and waiting for a BFP is killing me!

Hmmm... talents... I'm a pretty good dancer and love vintage swing era dances. I guess that might be unusual, but it doesn't seem like it to me because I know a bunch of other people who are into it. A more unusual talent would be my pumpkin carving skills... I did a rather realistic one of Obama during the Presidential election. We got more people over to look at the pumpkins than we did trick or treaters that year.

Hi Ladies...

Just stopping in to wonder what on earth is Bajingo juice? I'm sure there must be a joke there.

I'm listed as an active member here but I've been hanging out with the Bitter Sushi Ladies lately as I'm a bit discouraged after a year of trying naturally and now on my second IUI cycle. Maybe posting here will give me some baby luck Or maybe it's just a sign I'm in the 2WW.

I too know all the words to Ice Ice Baby, much to my DH's incredulity. I'm not sure he knows all they lyrics to any song, not to mention a really bad song from the early 90's (if I remember correctly). Milli Vanilli, too . . . but in my case I wouldn't call it a talent, more of a quirk. My grandma loves to tell a story about her sister, who knew all the words to a great many songs, and when reminded of a song by a word or phrase, she would sing the whole thing from beginning to end . . . even if you were in the middle of a conversation. So I try to make sure I don't do that. Even though I could, and often have the urge to.

My odd skill is definitely milking squirrels. I can pretty much guarantee I'm the only person on this forum who has EVER expressed milk from a wild squirrel. It ain't easy, and they don't like it. And they have incredibly sharp teeth. Because I know everyone will think I'm some kind of sadistic animal torturer if I don't explain . . . it was a job for a research project. There is a long-term study of squirrels in the Yukon, and all individuals in the study area are tracked from birth death (or until they leave the area). To see if the mother is still feeding babies, you check if she's still lactating - she stops after just a couple of days if her babies die. So, you have to milk all the mama squirrels when you catch them every 7-10 days. If I made you gals laugh, that makes it worth it, even with the "stapling", as one of my coworkers called squirrel bites.

I am still reading and integrating what everyone says, but I'm still too busy to be much of a contributor. And I'm sending all my November baby dust to you deserving ladies, too. Good luck!

JlyGrnMigt: If you don't mind my asking, what kind of research is your DH doing? Just curious . . . going to China to do research sounds fun! And surely not much colder than here.

Squirrel milking!?! If this were a contest, you just took home the prize... hehe!

SQUIRREL MILKING

I had to read it a few times.. I'm with TickleToes - that takes the cake.
Squirrel milking! Amazing! I've got nothing to compete with that.
Everyone already knows I'm a knitter, I also spin yarn. That's really not that weird in the knitting community and I'm not very good, but there you go, I could be a pioneer. The spinning wheels we use now are not the kind that Sleeping Beauty pricked her finger on.

Livingsky, Bajingo juice is exactly what you think it is

Anyfemme, I teach 7th and 8th grade Reading in a K-8 school. I actually love it most of the time. I live in AZ, and I also have teacher bladder! I often don't need to pee until lunch at 11:30! But I drink tons and tons of water all hours of the day, I can't help it.

Still trying to get the hang of temping and hoping I haven't O'd. I noticed that if I take out one freak low temp FF says it still can't determine an O date. I feel pretty down about potentially flubbing this whole cycle. Took a day off today, I was getting a cold and just generally feeling run down. I've been good about taking my bit vits (Emergen C) but not so great about taking my multivit (has enough folic acid to be fine for ttc) or the iron pills I'm still taking since I was a bit anemic last docs visit.

ValH, can you update my chart link to this:

Thanks, doll!

Laggie - Bajingo Juice is CM... it's a joke from last month's thread. I can't remember the exact circumstances of the joke, but it was pretty funny at the time, and the saying kind of stuck. We're glad to have you back with us! I hope you get a sticky bean this cycle.

Hykue - Yep, you win the odd talent prize with the squirrel milking! I had to read it twice!

bootsvalentine - Your chart has been updated! I was looking at it, and I don't know that you've O'ed yet... those are some pretty low temps for post-O. If you don't mind me asking, where are you taking the temp (i.e. orally)? Are the circumstances when you take the temp pretty similar every day (i.e. time, room temp, amount of sleep, etc.)? My first chart kind of looked like the Rocky Mountains while I got used to temping. Still sometimes they look crazy!

AFM - Still waiting to O. I don't know why I'm so impatient this month! I took three OPKs yesterday, at CD12. I don't normally O until CD 15-16. So yeah, it's going to be negative at CD12.

Ok, so I was going to talk about my special talents, but after that post on squirrel milking, I cannot compete.

Val, I'm loving the thread title!

Good luck Tickletoes! Super excited for you!

For those of you struggling w/ the online fertility trackers, have you every given thought to tracking on a paper chart? That's what I do and I love it! Yeah, I do have to look in my TCOYF book every now and then, but I just don't like a computer telling me when I O'd when I can figure it out myself. And then there is no conflict w/ what I think and what the computer thinks, it's just me! Ok, off my soap box now...

I think I might have ovulated yesterday, I think I had the mittelschmerz if I recognized it correctly. BD was timed okay so time will tell if my temp goes up tomorrow or not. I'm feeling a lot less stressed lately but it almost seems like a day to day thing. DH convinced me not to open work emails while at home and that is helping.

TickleToes - high temps means maybe you're pregnant? I don't chart, so I haven't learned about the temp stuff yet. Crossing my fingers for you!

Hykue - All I could think of was that line from Meet the Parents: "I have nipples, Greg. Can you milk me?" Too funny! The things we'll do for research... My husband is looking at the National Park situation around here. NP's are pretty new in China, and there are communities living on the land they want to protect. As you can probably imagine, there are lots of issues there. He's in Sociology. As for the weather, the altitude makes everything weird. I grew up in Michigan, so being over 10,000 ft is a bit of a change for me! In terms of latitude, we're about level with Northern Georgia I think, but the thin air means heat doesn't hang around. You can be sitting in the roasting sun feeling toasty warm (or uncomfortably hot, if you're my husband) and as soon as you step into the shad or a cloud passes over, it drops like 10 degrees. Dusk is a bit of a panic too. Gotta get home and throw on another layer before it gets chilly!

Taxlady - Ice Ice Baby was early middle school for me... It was one of the CDs my dad bought when we got our very first CD player. Janet Jackson for me, VI for my brother, and Whitney Houston for my mom VI has since apologized for that song! Anyway, I bust out into song when prompted by conversation too, but it's generally only a line or two. I get that from my mom, who does it with far more gusto than I. I think the only song I might still be able to remember in full from that era is Sir Mix a Lot's "I like big butts", but I have a college friend who can sing The Humpty Dance!

Wow! You ladies are takin me back! First Vanillla Ice then the mention of Milli Vanilli...so funny!

Yep - that is a new one! Milking squirrels...I could have used that for when I bottle fed a squirrel (I just used KMR). They are so cute! Only did one and I named him Squirt. (I got peed on a lot - no bites though Hykue!)

Birdie.lee - I am actually charting on paper now, but am planning on using FF, too. Didn't get to it yet.

ValH - I heard taking OPK test in afternoon is the best time? The smiley one says first morning urine is ok, but websites say its best after 10am to 2pm - of course while I am at work! It was a challenge but I did it at work today. Whew... What time are you trying to test at?

birdie.lee - I'm with you on the paper charting... I actually do both. I have my paper one, which I interpret however the heck I want to regardless of what FF says, and then I have FF. The paper ones are the ones that will be making the trip to the doctor with me soon. There's not really a huge difference between what I interpret and FF interprets, just a couple of times have we disagreed on O date. Plus, I find filling out the paper chart to be a lot of fun, mine is quite colorful.

And good job on not opening work emails at home! I make it a rule to not open work emails on the weekends or after 5:30pm (I work from home, so I have to open them from there, but NOT after hours). It's all about HEALTHY BOUNDARIES!

JlyGrn - You've got the right idea with the temps - prolonged high temps past a normal luteal phase can be a sign of pregnancy. that it will be the case for tickle.toes! And I LOVE the song you mentioned... "I like big butts and I cannot lie... you other brothers can't deny... that when a girl walks in..." I'll stop there. My friends and I actually made up a dance to that song. Too bad none of us took dance, because it sucked. Oh, the memories...

AFM - I think I've come to a decision today. I'm fed up at work, and all this talk about "healthy boundaries" has inspired me to do something about it. I've already been looking for work, but haven't found anything that I'd be interested in and could afford to do (had one offer a while back, but big pay cut). So, I'm going to work on getting my LPC credential (licensed professional counselor). It's something I should have done a long time ago (like right after graduation), but I've always had jobs that didn't require it. But it would open up a lot of job opportunities for me, and then I wouldn't feel so stuck (financially) in the job I have right now... it's like I can't afford to take any of the other jobs I'm qualifed for. So now I'm excited! And, it'll give me something to focus on besides TTC.

Yesterday I tested with FMU (smiley test), so around 6:45, and then I tested around 2, and again around 5 (both with some Answer Brand ones that I had left over). I don't know why I would have expected a different result with the 5pm test than I got with the 2pm test. Wishful thinking, maybe? Insanity?

Um...I've been impatient since January. I told myself last month I was done with OPKs, too. Oh well. If its insane I am right there with you! Better to catch it one way or the other!

Oh, no, I didn't want to keep other people from sharing their odd talents and skills . . . I should have waited until other people had already posted theirs, I want to read them . . . and I didn't think of it right away, I was going through all the more mundane things I can do . . . lighting a good fire? pick up my cat without getting hissed at? Oh yeah, the squirrel thing.

So don't let me rule the show, it's not a competition, and I want to know what everyone else can do. Surely everyone else does too.

I just went on my job interview and I feel fantastic. So ValH - I applaud you for what you are doing. We don't have to be fed up at work.. there is so much we can do and I feel like I know you all and you are all amazing. There is no limit... the job might not work out but it was so refreshing to see something new. Where they were relaxed and happy. It was cool!

Jlygrn - what you are doing sounds really cool. I enjoyed your blog and I looking forward to keeping up with it, what an adventure!

Birdie.lee - hiya! I am impressed with your use of the word mittelschmetz.. wow.. what is that anyway?

Boots, my mom is a weaver and a spinner. We used to have an old fashioned spinning wheel in the house.. she would buy fresh wool, dye it with natural things like onion peels, card it and spin it. Pretty cool. She just came up with the idea to host the "Stitch and Bitch" for her American friends in Paris. I thought of you when she thought of that.. you knitters.

I want to get some OPK's but I'm wondering if the antibiotics will interfere with them? I don't have any IC's, so I don't want to waste the $$. Hmmm.. I did temp this morning. Finally, I'll have a chart.

Have a great day all!

Hykue is right, we still want to hear what other interesting talents there are out there! Feel free to keep chiming in. And, Hykue, if you can pick up a cat without getting hissed out, that is impressive! Even my own cats hiss at me on occassion (but usually only when their carriers are visible, which inevitably means a trip to the vet).

Bel718 - Thanks for making me feel a little less crazy-impulsive! I guess we all have our moments, right?

Taxlady - I'm so glad your job interview went well! You'll have to keep us posted on how it goes! I do feel so much better now that I've made the decision to get my LPC credential, like a weight has been lifted. I know it won't be an easy road, but I feel like I'm making steps to be a healthier, happier me. You guys have inspired me! I truly don't know if I would have made the decision at this point if it hadn't been for the conversations in here. Y'all are truly a blessing!

I think I can answer the "mittelschmerz" question - it's my understanding that it essentially means "middle pain," so basically it's the pain some women experience in the middle of the cycle signaling O. It looks like a German word to me, but I don't know where it comes from, really.

Now I have a question - I'm not very good or consistent about checking CM, because I can't really tell the difference. Can someone tell me more about EWCM... or EWBJ (egg-white bajingo juice)? Is it clumpy, or more runny? I know it's like "egg whites," but I'm still confused!

Don't feel bad, you shouldn't have to check yourself before sharing something fun! One person's uniqueness doesn't make anyone else's less valuable.

So I just got back from the doctor - good news! My iron levels are extremely low.. I have 8 and normal should be between 30 and 126 (I think). Anyhow, it sort of explains why I'm not getting pregnant and now I have a chance to start building up that iron and getting there!
