MDC's software transition information - Page 6

I hate that I can no longer right click in Firefox to spell check; instead I have to use the spell check built in to the web site. But eh, that's no biggie, I guess.

What I would really like to know is - how can I see more posts per page? A thread that was two pages long yesterday is 5 today! Yuck!

Me neither.

Here is the PasP link, can you access it?

I can't access it from the link -- it says Permission Denied, and I can't see them from the index.

I'm not a mod, but is there a minimum post requirement to access that tread?

Thanks for checking. I will make a note of that for them.

There was (is?) a 50 post minimum for those forums, and I had been able to read/post up until the software switch.

That should be a post in the archives, can you scroll down and see the forum?

I can see all the threads in TAO and PasP, so I'm thinking maybe the min post requirement got bumped up?

I'm sure I'll get used to it, but this new site isn't very user friendly.  It's certainly not intuitive.

  • Where is the New Posts section?
  • The User CP that I get to by clicking on my name in the upper right corner (not intuitive) doesn't show updated threads.  It shows the threads that I've posted in, but not a list of ones that have been updated recently.  I've checked out a few, and they have been.  Is there a User CP that shows updated threads that I'm already participating in?
  • Also, I tried to change my profile and it said that I can't save it without adding a zip code.  I don't really want to supply that.

And I think that the Oscar Meyer advertising is extremely questionable for a board like Mothering.  I would never feed my children overprocessed lunch meat like that, and I resent having two videos of turkey sandwiches on every page.  It's also so wide that it makes the page unwieldy to use.

It makes it very difficult to scroll through and read new posts, since each page is half-full of repeats from the prior page.

thanks!

I am having the same issue. It is a bit annoying, and I know I am probably missing things.

Also, I had figured out how to subscribe to some forums, and when you do so, it mixes ALL of the posts from that forum into your individually subscribed threads.  I had to unsubscribe from the forums, because it was too much.  I just want to see that there HAVE been updates to the forum, and maybe the top 5-10 latest posts, if anything...

There is an "all new posts" in the top middle for me...

My Profile at the top seems to give me the updated threads, though I have not posted in enough since the change to know how it works...

idk abt the zip code thing.... I have not tried to change it.... ETA--- I see what you mean now. It is required to change anything but it states it is not viewable...

Add free viewing seems to resolve any page offset caused by adds. ie, I don't have big blank spaces where I am thinking adds would be, the forum takes up the whole page as it did before... might wanna consider that for that issue...

one of the smilies in my siggy doesn't show, but did when I edited (before I submitted it).

This has already been mentioned, but I just wanted to add my voice to the "Please fix the smileys" list.

When I pull up the smileys, the box of choices overwhelms my screen (in both Firefox and Safari). I can't scroll through the smileys, and I can't close the box once it's open. I have to close the window/tab and start over again. They also seem to be really random and disorganized. I liked how they were sorted into categories before!

Is it just my Mac or is the whole smilies thing not functioning right?  I click on the button to add a smilie and I can't scroll down in the box to get to the others or exit out without choosing one.

It is not just your Mac... are you using FF or Safari? FF on mine is exhibiting the same behavior

Oh, I think the fact that we need to input our Postal/Zip code really shouldn't be relevant.  I wanted to change my settings and had to add my birthdate and Postal code....hmmm.....I did it but didn't like it

One last question...sorry. How do I buy a paid subscription now? I can't seem to find that info anywhere. Thanks.
