All this talk of a looming name-change deadline almost makes me want to change my name, even though I've had this current one (or very slight variations thereof) for nearly 14 years, lol.

I'm not usually a fan of board format changes but I'm thrilled that I'll be able to attach a few pictures or a short video when my soon-to-be-adopted daughter's adoption finalizes later this month.

Oh, that's wonderful news! We'll anxiously await those being posted

I'm really excited about the ability to post images and video, too.

Thanks to everyone so far for their input and questions. It's going to be very exciting, and there will be lots of new things for all of us to learn. We'll be posting in Q&S after we've launched the new site to help get everyone get squared away, find things, make requests, ask questions, etc. Thanks in advance for your patience!

Please note in the boardwide announcements (at the top of each forum) that I've requested any name changes be submitted via Paypal no later than 5 pm EST on Monday (11/8). I'm going to lose access to our database late Monday evening, so I want to make sure that anyone who wants a name change can have it processed before before it's too late.

Premium Members (Advertisers and Supporters) will both have the ability to change their own titles with our new software. New Senior Members will still need to contact an administrator for their title change once they hit their 1,000th post.

I can go ahead and change yours for you now if you let me know what you'd like. I totally understand why you'd want it changed

I feel so mixed about this. A google search is how I found MDC and I'm SO glad, it has truly changed my life. I was searching for some info about chickens, I think. But I do think it's weird now.

Yes, MDC content will continue to show up on Google.

This is a public forum so unless we make it completely private, which we do not intend to do, then the posts will show up on Google.

We do have some areas of the forum such as PasP or TAO which do not show up in a search.

If all goes as expected, we should be taken offline tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. They have told us to expect a 24 hour downtime. I agree. I really like the vBulletin platform and every forum I've been a member of that has switched away has done so for the worse.

I think the only thing that worries me is the "private forum" thing where you can invite people to be in your "group". One of the reasons I like MDC so much is because it is so inclusive - nobody really has a chance to feel left out. I spent a lot of time in my life feeling left out and really don't want that to happen again. I mean, I have Facebook for social networking, and I have MDC to be around like-minded mamas. IDK, its a different feeling - a different reason for belonging. Anyways, thats my 2 cents.

Otherwise, I look forward to the graphics changes and what-not. Though I will miss the tan

Ugh, I hate change too.  Although I'm sure before long I'll adjust and won't remember why I liked the old site, haha.  I AM excited about being able to post images.

Administrators really do want your input (be it a question, concern or issue) so they need all of it to go in one place. They've said they will be allowing a full dialogue, so feel free to post what you need to in there.

As we are allowed to speak our minds fully....hmmm...just at a quick glance do not like the look of the new main page....I find it looks too sterile.  I am also missing the little icon in frotn of each individual forum showing new posts.  Yes, I see it on the forum group as a whole but not the ones within it (ie Gifted Kids, Pets, etc).  Anyways...that's my 2cents after a 5 min look. thumb.gif
