It was such a different experience then conferences in the public school.
For my Jr. Kindergartner it was basically he is doing fine and adjusting to the rhythm of the day. That was about it. Which was fine. I have no concerns about him. He is finally used to going 5 days a week, he has friends at school and loves his outside day. (Every Monday they are outside for the whole day.) He also is starting to eat the snacks, like rice and millet.
For my 5th grader it was a bit more meaningful because he has never loved school. He always functioned well academically, but school wasn't a positive experience for him. (Last year was good because he had a great teacher, but the homework was a bit out of control, so we were happy to change.)
She showed the work he was doing. They don't have textbooks, they create their own. She says he is doing fine academically and socially. She asked what questions we had. We really didn't have much, we are just thrilled that he is doing so well and feel like we have finally found a school that fits what we want for our boys.
She did say that when we stopped by to visit the first day she had a feeling that C. would fit in great there. I felt the same as did C. We were all right!
This was my husbands first trip there and he liked it. It is funny to me how he completely trusted me with this decision and after the visit was basically like, "You were right, good job." Yay for a mother's intuition!
Loving our Waldorf experience. I am so happy we found this school.

Just wonderful news!

three trial days and now DS' third "real" day). The parents are *so* open, welcoming, and friendly and, truly, I can see such a difference in the kids. They are amazingly confident, open, and helpful. One little girl told DS how to climb a tree on the playground after school. Sounds minor, but at his old school, the kids probably would have just laughed or mocked him for not knowing how!
My only regret is not sending DS there from the beginning. I had so many (silly!) preconceptions about what Waldorf was and wasn't. But . .. I guess 7 isn't too late!
