Good to see yu BBM! I wish this weekend wasn't so crazy and I was ready for a 20 miler. I pop over and visit dragging Geo along.

Welcome Amandasemele. C25K with good shoes about sums it up. Where abouts are you in IN? (if you don't mind sharing)

Mel, better to be tangled in leashes than bags of dog poo.

JG, I hope today's showing is The One.

I think we are coming to some sort of conclusion on some of dd1's school issues.

amandasmele - Definitely want to 3rd the advice for C25k and for good shoes that have been professionally fitted for you (sounds a LOT more intimidating than it actually is. Go in and tell them you are a new runner and need shoes). Oh, and don't worry about pace. If it feels too hard to run 60 seconds, try slowing down a lot. Remember, running is a gait, not a speed!

My puppy gained 7 pounds in the last 3 weeks! I think I can see him growing!

We saw 2 skunks on our walk last night, too. Thankfully, nothing came of that!

Tri class tonight. 45 minute bike, followed by a 15 minute run. I'm taking it easy during the day today. My biggest goals are to do laundry and shave my legs.

Me to husband this morning, "So did you call the cleaning lady to come and clean before your parents get here Thursday?"

We don't have a cleaning lady, nor do we have time to clean deep enough to have houseguests. The bathroom is clean, the floor is vacuumed every other day. Dust? yeah. we've got it.

soap: yes, I was moving. No wonder I missed it. That was a bad phase in my life. Bad bad bad.

Dingo visits: throwing this out there cautiously: we may or may not be visiting Ohio at Christmas time with a general idea of Cleveland for xmas, driving through Columbus to Dayton on the 26th or 27th. Then flying home 28th-ish. I'll know more soon, but I could see a little dingo gathering, providing ya'll are home.
Kristin - PLEASE!!!! I would love to see you!

mommajb, I have several long runs coming up, let me know if you want to come over (maybe Geo could come this way too and we could have a whole dingo posse!) this way. I have a 21 and 23 miler coming up.

So, thoughts ... I made up my running schedule and I did kind of a 3-week cycle. For example, 20, 14, 10, 21, 16, 10, 23... what do you think? Should I have the really long runs every other week or keep doing the three week cycle?

Trying to lift my head up from under the weight of what happened yesterday , and I'm not even talking political party preferences, just how much divisiveness there is, and how little true communication

FM: None. I have been feeling recovered for about two weeks, and every day is gonna be the day I get back on the wagon, and then its not. I want to run! The fall weather and colors are so glorious - I love Fall running, but I have to "train" to be able to run, which means going to the gym and sitting on that dern bike, and doing PT exercises over and over and over I told you guys how the gym replaced the bikes I like with ones I hate. Sigh. Must ride. Must get strong and stretch and then .... Run.
Sparkle- I feel ya! I have been having a knee issue that feels markedly better after some strength work and stretching. But to do all that, and then make time for a run has been more than I've managed lately. Ugh.

So, I've been back to the business of soap and two days in I think "I need a sitter!" Oh boy. This is why I wanted part time work!

I hate these decisions sometimes.
I don't wanna clean my house for ANOTHER showing! I'm TIRED of cleaning. I'm TIRED of everything needing to be perfect. Ahhhhhh!!!!!

Okay, I feel better now.

The best news to come out of yesterday's election is that our school district actually PASSED the funding referrendum !

No FM (again), spent the morning volunteering in DD1's first grade classroom, and now, the vacuum is calling my name .

Hey, dingos.

I'm still here reading along, trying to figure out when to schedule in my running. I'm thinking early afternoon, as soon as dh comes in the door. Otherwise, no run, and I'm not holding it all together well.

Trying to remember to breathe...

Today! Is my birthday!

Happy birthday to ME. A brand-new year starts today!

A few years ago when I realized I was disappointed in the non-mindreader characteristics of DH, I decided I would be in charge of my own happiness. Which includes a VERY limited Amazon wishlist and me doing most of the birthday planning. Me feeling like is much better than my previous .

Last night I made waffles and bought ice cream and heavy cream, so this morning I could have my family's traditional birthday breakfast: waffles with ice cream and fresh whipped cream. I also pulled out the recipe and ingredients for chocolate cake, so DH and the kids can bake tonight while I'm at work and we can eat cake tomorrow.

Because of my limited wishlist, DH gave me the wrist Garmin I'd been wanting. Now I just need to charge up and learn how to use the darn thing.

My dad told my mom that the people he knows at the gym only wear wicking and warming gear, so on his advice she bought me a fancy long-sleeved shirt and a hooded thing to wear over it, plus some socks and a sports bra. Yay for new high-tech running stuff!

After dropping DS off this morning, I went to DD's first-grade class to be their "mystery reader." DD was delighted; she kept inching forward to point at the pictures in the books I'd brought, to make sure her classmates didn't miss anything.

I ran four miles in the thirty-degree , then sat in my car and listened to a new book that unexpectedly arrived in CD form instead of paper form--"Zombies vs. Unicorns." I wish it were more kid-appropriate, because it's really funny. It's a collection of stories written by people who come down on one side or the other of the zombies vs. unicorns debate. Now I need to find a time and place to hide out with a CD player to listen to the remaining nine CDs.

All in all, a satisfying birthday morning.

Enjoy my birthday day! I give all of you my best wishes for a happy and productive and satisfying start to the (official) new year.

Lalalala, you are officially my Official Hero. Never again will I build up regret, resentment & anger toward my dh due to his (perceived) lack of effort. I will be like you and dance to my own tune. You have made my day. As my Official Hero, I send you the best birthday wishes ever and plan to enjoy this day 10x, no 100x, 1000x more. Happ Birthday. I :heart you.

Hello Dingos!
Just popping on here to read yet more info on crazy almost 2.5 yr old lack of sleep...I can't come on MDC without checking in to see how the Dingos are doing-lucky for me its the beginning of the month and I actually quickly read through all three pages
Hope everyone is doing well.

Happy Birthday Lalalala!

I am running and still doing yoga just still not in a regular routine. All due to lack of sleep and inconsistancy in sleep. Trying to figure out if nightweaning is for us-I really don't want to go there-dd is so intense-the mere suggestion of not nursing her when she wakes up-she goes nuts-not just crying-but screaming at me (quite verbal) and throwing her entire body around...anyway-that is why I am on here. Dh is slowing losing it day by day because of his lack of sleep (he doesnt go in there-she is in a different room now-she reacts even more nuts if he does try to comfort her in the middle of the night...) but he hears her when she gets up when I go in to nurse her.

So anyway-enjoyed looking over the race results and the race lists! You ladies are doing fantastic

And lets hear it for the Kerc fan club-the woman is awesome

I too remember the soap conversation

Have a happy happy November stay warm out there on those chilly runs-and I hope to pop back in here more frequently-might give me more motivation!!

Have to admit to some curiosity over the soap conversation

Kerc is definitely awesome.

FM: 4.2 yesterday, 6 this morning. Feeling pretty good, although quads are still sore from Sunday's 15. Why do I get the feeling that all my weekday runs from here on out are going to feel like recovery runs from my increasingly-long long runs?!

ETA: I am officially less than 50 miles off my 2010 year goal of 1000 miles run. Woot!

Happy Birthday!!

I told myself I was gonna jump in at the beginning of the month, cause this thread always moves so fast. So here I am on the 3rd day of the month and already three pages! I have tried to keep up before, but have been unsuccessful...here's to trying again.

I am Katie, I love to run. I have two kiddos, dd is 5, ds is 3. I have been running for a couple of years, in June I switched to vibram's and haven't looked back. I am up to running 10ish miles in them now, on any terrain. My next race will be in January, the Trinidad to Clam Beach run in California. Then I'm hoping to run in the Avenue of the Giants either half or whole in March. I'm not sure if I'll be able to train enough to do a whole. Winter is cold and snowy here, I've never really had much luck running through it. I'm gonna try harder this year. I hate treadmills. Hmmm...I also lift weights regularly and recently started doing yoga. I really enjoy both of those things too....but running is zen/meditation/bliss for me. The others are just variety.

bec - for how different our daily routines are, your to-do list seems to often mirror mine! I think I'll get some laundry done, but no leg-shaving. Maybe tomorrow?

on the soap - I think it was supposed to make dhs more interested in their partners? I did have some. Worked great for my dh, but he doesn't actually need a ton of encouragement He was just tickled that I'd get something like that for him.

RR - I'm racing a 10K sunday, so a relatively light week. I'm going to run 3 ish, then try out a new class tonight. My regular guts and butts class is no longer going to be held on wednesdays, just Mon and Fri, so my friend and I are going to go to the hour long "Body Blaster" class instead. I've done it once before a few months ago and it was tough!

Lax4 - Happy Birthday! Way to be the master of your happiness!

New folks - Jump in and post a lot!

ETA- Think this dress looks at all mother-of-the-groom-ish? Dress pattern

Kerc, you might have missed all of it because it looks like you were moving...
All of this (above) is why I the Dingos. And the Dingoes. And that soap didn't do a dang thing in my house, but I suppose now I know why...

pumpkinseed! So good to see you! Sending sleep vibes to your house.

I wanna join the Kerc fan club. AND I wish I was going to be in Ohio after Christmas.

LaLaLaLa - happy birthday and congrats on creating your own happiness.

Welcome to all the new posters!

I ran last night for the first time in over a week. I vow to stay on the wagon and on my training schedule and not throw away all the progress I have made a mere 3 weeks before my half (gulp). I may need a few Dingo boots to get me through... now that I've accepted the responsibility of trying to organize our household and make things run more smoothly, it seems there isn't much time left over for anything else. One random organizing tip I wanted to pass along... if you need to organize and store gloves, hats, scarves, etc... get one of those over the door shoe hanger thingies and stuff your winter accessories in the pockets. Implemented that one last night and it rocks.

Also, has anyone here ever had pumpkin dump cake? I hate hate hate the name, but made it for the first time last night after holding on to the recipe for a few years... whoa... that stuff is incredible. "Dump" in a recipe title is just unappetizing, and it is more like pie than cake, so it really needs a new name... but it is eyeball-licking good . I'll post the recipe if you want.

My life update: Went to another counseling session with C and I got lots of support regarding the issue we discussed, which was nice. But the fundamentals aren't really changing... so far all I see is that I'm busting my harder than ever before and he's staying the same, or possibly doing worse even with less on his plate, which makes me . There was a lot of going on last week. Sparkle, what you said about what I get out of this... remember that? I have thought about it every day since you said it and I am so glad you did. I'm looking out for that, I promise.

The next 7-8 days are going to be he!!. Family in town visiting, soccer banquet on Sat. for which I have promised to make a cake (you all know this spells trouble), and multiple health appointments for my parents next week including the cardiologist for my mom who had some EKG changes suggesting a previous heart attack. The goal is to keep up with running and somehow manage not to get sick through it all (DS has a cold).

Sorry for the lack of personals... I hope you're all having a great day.

eks - "Dump" cake is my MIL favorite, except hers is chocolate. Yes it is I can imagine pumpkin dump being pretty darn too .... and I like the name

Just in from school, doing the turn-around (=kids+popsicles on the hammock while I boil noodles for lasagna), now out the door to take dd1 to climbing...

Lax4, Happy Birthday! I hope it was a wonderful day for you.

I didn't spend much time outside. Caught a cold for real, and fighting the blues. I went to the yarn store after errands and picked up a new project, then spent a little time knitting, and then kids got home from school, and I took them for a trail walk. Didn't realize that a scene from Public Enemies was filmed that close to our house, until passing the marked spot on the trail today. Walked about 3 miles with dd complaining 2.5 of those miles. I cranked my ipod and ignored her.

Also feeling about what happened in my state yesterday.

Tomorrow I have pics at work, and my recently widowed former neighbor is joining me and the kids for dinner.

bbm, WOW on that LR schedule.

There is still a mammal under the stove. All there is to eat down there is [rat bait]. wtf?
sparkle ~ your life sounds a lot like mine .

eks ~ I think you're right on with wondering what YOU get out of it. You can only give so much without any return before resentment builds .

Lalala ~ Happy Birthday! Way to make it the perfect day !

DrJen ~ I really like that dress a lot. I think it would be perfect.

Good to see all the new and returning Dingoes.

JayGee, that's a big part of what I'm talking about. I'm waaaaaay left of you, but the name-calling and insults make me just feel really about our so-called civil society.

Some solo barn time really helped me. It always does. I sure do love all my ladies.
