Holding 'it' for a diaper instead of the potty

We have such an odd reverse PL'ing situation going on here. For the last 3 months, DS (22 months old now) will hold his bladder and then run and get a diaper when he's ready to go. He wants no part of peeing in the potty, even though he used to do it when he was much younger. So he will bring us a diaper, we put it on him, he pee's and then we take it off again!

Any suggestions on how to get him to go on/in his potty? We have a potty bench, do you think a potty seat for the toilet would be better?

Would love some advice!

..I should mention that we are in no rush for him to PL or have a timeline or anything like that, I just think he would be happier going in his potty.

OMG we have the exact same thing happening. DD is almost 2 and she did pee in the potty for a couple of days. Now, she wants nothing to do with potty. Just wants diaper. I am waiting it out for now.

My DD did something similar, and we EC'd so she was out of diapers at 13 months. But then when she turned two she stopped wanting reminders and started peeing on the floor all the time. I put her back in trainers for about a month, and then she started taking herself to the potty.

If I were you I would just go with it. Sounds like he's experimenting and maybe wanting to make sure he can choose where he pees. Might be a desire to be like a baby--that was part of it for my DD. But obviously he has control over where he pees, so it's just a matter of him deciding that it's more comfortable to go in the potty. If I were you I would let him use diapers all he wants, but talk with him about how it's fine for him to use a diaper but it's more comfortable to use the potty. And maybe a new potty that he picks out? Or maybe just offering different locations beside the potty, like standing in the bathtub? Boys tend to like that...
