Thank god! I've just been reading about parents with 9 month olds who wake twice a night and how tired they are.....my good friends 4 week old baby has been waking only once a night since she was a couple of days old, and she complains how exhausted she is...... My 2.5 year old will some times only wake twice, and that's a fantastic fantastic night for us. He's never slept through the night, and has once ever woken only once. Usually he wakes 3 or 4 times. But we still get the occassional (once or twice a month) 8 times a night. Only 4 months ago 6-8 times was the norm, and 12-14 times was a bad night! I've also given up on the idea of SSTN, but I do really love it when it's only twice (he BFs back to sleep....) I'm past being exhausted, it's just become normal life now ;)

Ditto. My son will be four next month, and he still wakes up at least once, five times a week. And almost always it's just that he needs a snuggle to get back to sleep.
Â
I used to stress so much about his sleeping (or lack thereof), especially when I was so very sick being pregnant with his sister. But now, I remind myself that pretty soon, he won't need my snuggles to go back to sleep, and when he's all grown up, I'll cherish these times, even if it's rough on me now. It doesn't mean I'm always super pleasant at three in the morning, but it's enough of a reminder to give him the snuggles and then go back to my own bed to finish sleeping.
Â
Hang in there! Eventually, our children will sleep!
