Montessori Reading Assessments

Hi, all. I'm an education graduate student at IU and a mother of a first grader who attends a Montessori school. For one of my classes, I'm doing an inquiry paper on reading assessments in the Montessori school (an awesome way to combine two of my current passions). I'm looking for facts and opinions about how reading is assessed in the Montessori setting (testing, conferencing, grades, etc.). What do you know about the reading assessment methods in Montessori and what are your opinions? Thanks in advance for your help

I'm wondering what age you're talking about? 3-6? 6-9? 9-12?

A more general answer is that reading is assessed like everything else is assessed in the classroom--largely through observation.

I know this is a vague answer, but hope it opens to more specific questions.
