Mine does a great wounded pterodactyl when he is fighting sleep! Good to know he isn't alone

Whew! I am so glad this is not just my child that hated to be swaddled, etc. He's almost 6 and still doesn't want a blanket on him.

My middle child was (and is) very advanced and yeah, he was very mellow. He started crawling and cruising at 5.5 mos. and would go into the playroom and play alone for long periods of time. He had a few dozen words by a year, but pretty much bypassed signing (we'd try to teach him the sign by saying and signing it, and he'd do both back at the same time so we decided to stop signing). He started walking at 8.5 mos. and was a runner for a while, which was hard.
My 3.5 mo. old can sit unassisted for a minute or so, and I'd swear she says "hi" (my 8 yr. old claims he taught her) but that's crazy. She can roll over both ways. I'm pretty sure she's following in her brother's footsteps and I'm so sad. She's our last and I'm nostalgic for her short babyhood already.

i don't think my 8 month old can do most of those things! she's sitting well, and can get down by herself. she's doing a kind of army crawl, but it's only gotten deliberate at all in the last couple weeks. she only rolled for the first time at around 6 months, and didn't do it often until 7 months. she doesn't say anything, doesn't really play games (although laughs at me if i do something, and will show enjoyment of songs and hand motions etc.). she certainly isn't crawling, pulling up, or anything like that. she has decent fine motor skills, along the lines of the babies i know who have much more advanced gross motor skills than her. it never even occured to me that 6-8 month olds might be talking! i've never met one who did.

Uhm, no, very, very, very few babies can do those things around 6mo.

At 6mo my DD could sit unassited. Stand while holding on to something for short periods of time. Laughed at funny things (all the time) and she responded to and could engage in peek-a-boo games and feed herself..

She didn't do all the other things until several months later. She knew all the facial parts, could wave, give high fives, clap, walk independently, etc by 10mo. She's 15mo now and has quite a few words, but they didn't start to pick up until 12mo+.
