I'm 28 1/2 weeks pregnant. My placenta is in the front, so I'm told that I won't feel movement as much as if it was in the back. I started feeling movement at 14 weeks- just little flutters, and started feeling kicks and summersaults at around 19 weeks. From about 21 weeks to about 27 1/2 weeks, I felt almost constant movement. I knew he had naptimes, but there were definate times where it felt like he was having a serious party in there. Every doctor's appointment (last one was a week and a half ago), I was told how active he was, how he was constantly moving and kicking the stethescope out of the way, etc. Now, I'm feeling alot less movement. Now, I feel occasional kicks and elbows, but I haven't felt any flips or big movements in about a weeks. If I irritate him, he gets more active- at night, when I lay on my side, he gets the most active and he kicks the side that's laying against the mattress. Really hard, and for sometimes up to an hour. And, of course, if I have to pee really bad, I guess the bladder cramps his space, 'cause he starts kicking and pushing on my bladder to get it out of the way, just like he does with the mattress or the stethescope, so it's not like there's no movement, but it's been alot of decreased movement. Also, I'm "carrying well", not very big (although I have suddenly gotten alot bigger than I was), and I'm pretty sure that his head is somewhere near my appendix and his butt is diagnal up towards my left ribs, and his feet are mostly on my lower left side. At 28 1/2 weeks, is this normal, to have decreased movement and to be "stuck" in one position for weeks? He can't be very big at this stage (internet says about 2 1/2 to 3 pounds), so I don't see why he's went from a hyperactive personality to an almost zen personality. Should I be worried? I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday- should I mention it, or am I just freaking out for nothing? It doesn't "feel" like something's wrong (no Mommy intuition there), but it does feel like someone switched babies on me or something. Kinda freaking me out a bit.

I think I'm hydrated enough, but I'll keep an eye on it. It's been alot colder lately, so it's possible I'm not drinking as much as I was before.

between 21 and 31 weeks, DD2 was transverse (head on my right side, butt on my left) but she did eventually move to head down... by 34 weeks (my midwives wouldnt have worried until 36 weeks)
i also had an anterior placenta and went through times when I hardly felt any movements except the big ones, i think it was just how she had her body shifted... then she would shift back to where i could feel every little movement and it was like she wouldnt sit still
as long as you are feeling a decent amount of movements, I would try not to worry. but of course, you will worry... as would/did I. Talking to the midwife/doctor about it will help calm you down a ton.
