Do any of you have experience with this kit? I can't find anything reliable online, no photos other than stock. Thanks!

no experience but one of my midwives said just get plaster of paris and bandage strips and look up how to do it yourself online. Its a ton cheaper and the exact same thing.

No info on the kit, but second what MP said- it is really easy to diy (okay, a helper is useful) I got my plaster from a health supply store (the kind that sells medical devices, not a health food store), it was what they use to make hard casts for broken bones with. It comes in a long strip, like a bandage. Just add water, apply to belly (vaseline underneath helped keep it from stinging with removal), let dry and presto. I think it cost under 15 dollars to make mine, and I had plaster left over.

I still have mine from DS's pregnancy- almost 10 years ago now and it has held up perfectly, despite many movings and boxings.

ETA: I looked a little closer at that site- those casts are pretty, my guess is the 'easier, next level' part means their plaster come in a sheet instead of strips, bc the casts kind of look like the woman was wearing a shirt when the mold was made?

Yeah, getting plaster strips and such and DIY wouldn't give the same effect as it's different than traditional belly casts. I plan on going that route when the time comes. I was curious how these look and turn out other than the stock examples. Thanks anyway, ladies

Hmmm, hope you post pics if you do it. I'd never heard of belly imprinting before. Looks interesting!

I love the look of that kit, it is certainly very different than the strips. I have used the strip of a number of art projects and this being a smooth single sheet of whatever does definitely give you a different and more finished look. I'm guessing you could form it to fit closer to the body or this drapeir cloth look that they show. It would depend on what you like.

If you really want a replica of what your belly looks like you need to do what is called a "positive" from a good initial cast of your belly (which by the way will be a negative) but this is a bit more of an involved process, so most folks don't bother. I plan on it if I can get the right Hellers when I'm still feeling up to it.

I do think I will add something like this link has to the things I'm doing, I think it has a grace and a artiness that the plaster bandages don't give.
