New here but had questions

My son was born 10/9/2010. He is my second child and with my first I didn't know anything about EC
Anyway so I am struggling to potty train a 2 1/2 year old while doing elimination with a 3 week old.

I am not always successful and I read a baby doesn't usually pee in their sleep but my newborn's diaper is wet every time I try to catch a poop or a pee and its occurred sometime during his sleep. I 90% catch poops. I think 1 in 10 poops get in the diaper. I poop the baby really successfully even do it in public restrooms. However, I still have to buy about the same amount of diapers as a non ec mom because he pees in every diaper and does it while sleeping.
Should I not swaddle an EC baby? I swaddle him could that make him sleep better and thus not cue me when he has to pee? We've been communicating since he was 1 week old. I only catch like 50% of pees and if he pees while pooping then I am just lucky I guess.
Does Ec get easier over time?

Also my baby boy cues with grunting sometimes a good hour before he actually needs to poop and I am getting confused because as long as hes awake hes typically grunting....even if he doesnt need to poop.

Hi,

This is just my experience. I diapered my first all her first year and the EC and my second from birth. I swaddle my first but not the second. It's totally possible to EC at the time when you don't swaddle your DS. I don't feel that a baby can cue while is swaddle.
Talking about the amount of diapers, I'll probably doing flat diapers. Also my DS expend lots of time at home diaper less with legs. I don't really count diapers with a newborn. My main gold back then is keep the baby clean and dry. He hated to be wet back the.

Concerning to how easy gets over time, yes,! and no.. Depending of the baby, depending of the mother or caregiver too. Every time we were relax everything fits beautiful, but we have some stages when EC was stressful because we as a parents had lots in our hands. We even take couple EC breaks for a week between 8 to 11 mo. We had sometimes that I feel that EC was not working for him, now DS is 2 yo. and counting or the plus and minors...yes EC made my life easier.
