Getting a strong smell out of clothes

We just came back from a trip abroad. One of the things I bought and packed was truffle salt. Now, if you know truffles, you'll know they are PUNGENT. The jar was sealed, of course, but still, the smell completely permeated the clothes. I washed them (they were dirty and needed to be washed anyway) as normal (we use Era, which is the only detergent that gets our clothes clean... very hard water... and that I can use because of skin allergies) but the smell still lingers. I use a vinegar rinse. Should I just try to do the rinse with vinegar (and maybe add some baking soda) again? I don't want to waste water doing all these loads over and over again, so any tried-and-true tips would be much appreciated. I'd like to just wash one more time and be done with it. TIA!!

What about washing with baking soda or borax but letting the load sit for a soak once the tub is filled? I have a timed soaking setting on my washer, but if you just turned it off when the tub is filled that would work. Let it sit for an hour (or more?) then turn it back on and add vinegar to the rinse cycle.

Thanks Heather. I did end up using baking soda and then hung them out to dry for over 24 hours. That seems to have taken care of it. Thanks again!
