boomerang audio magazine

I think I've seen people recommend this previously, but is anyone using it currently? Is it worth it? Do your kids enjoy it? Homeschool Buyer's Coop has it now but it doesn't seem like many people are buying it, and the special pricing ends soon. So, I am trying to decide if we should get it or not.

We loved Boomerang. However, I'm not sure if we just caught Dave at a rough time in his life but we bought a 1-year subscription in about 2004-5 and it took us over two and a half years to get the twelve episodes that were supposed to take a year to reach us. He was not doing very well at generating content on a schedule!

Still, we always loved the episodes when they finally got to us.

We're thinking about this too. I would love more people to buy from the co-op thing because I'm not sure i'm ready to jump at full price.

We downloaded one single episode to try and L. liked it. It was one on growing food and I think it got into sustainability and stuff a bit?. It was 8-9 bucks for the single episode but I wanted to try it first.

I'm one of those who recommended it earlier, and I can't say enough about how much it was loved in our home. Boomerang is one of my son's favorite homeschooling memories, although he never saw homeschooling as a separate part of life. And he learned a whole lot about all manner of widely varied important subjects, but more than that, was inspired to really think and wonder about them. When he got to meet Dave in his booth at a homeschool conference, he was absolutely starstruck for weeks that he'd met "Dave Schmave (The Elevator Man)." When you go to their website, be sure to listen to all the free sample clips they have there under the title, "What's in a Boomerang issue? click and listen." Then read the awards and reviews page and the blog. I know the mom who wrote, "My only problem with them is sometimes I have to pull the van over and wait until my eyes clear from one of Dave Schmave's stories. Thanks for a great product. It reflects our values, makes us laugh and cry, and sure helps us pass some long hours in the van." She's not someone to say things like that lightly, and it's the reaction other moms and I had to Boomerang. The concept and production are absolutely brilliant. I think the reason it hasn't sold well in the co-op you mention must be that it just isn't well enough known, which is such a shame. And, to tell you the truth, it makes me a little sad that it's having to be sold at special prices, because it's worth every penny at full price. Lillian

We have listened to a few of the samples and I think DD likes them, but I haven't heard any recent reviews from current users. So, I didn't know if anything had changed, etc.

We've downloaded two issues so far and they were really good (we listened to them in the car). I'm going to download more soon as I still have several issues in the bundle I purchased (I can choose any issue, past or current).

Wow. We had to wait for an eternity between issues "in the old days." Lillian
