Show me a picture of your recyling please!

We FINALLY! have recycling services here. I am very happy. They want us to sort by type of item, plastics, glass, steel, etc. They want each type in a different bag. So right now I have 5 paper bags clustered around my trash can. This is not working well in our small apartment kitchen. I need organization ideas! Especially if you are an apartment dweller or live in a small house. I need it to not take up too much space. (Also, outside it a no-go since they have restrictions on what can go outside on the balcony.)

Mine is in the basement so I am no help but do you have room for a shelving unit that you can put the bags/bins on? Then they are stacked up and not around on the floor. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sterilite-...44412785163320 I hope that link works if not copy and paste but something like this.

If we had the room we certainly would try to do something like that. But we just don't. What I think I have decided on is just throwing everything into one large can and then sorting it when it gets full. That way if I am doing something involved in my kitchen or with a lot of people (like Thanksgiving dinner) I will be able to pick it up and set it in the hallway.

My bet is that will get old fast. How much cabinet space can you spare?

None. BUT - I clarified with the recycling company and it is "single stream" - aka everything in one bag. I told them their signs on the cans were a little confusing. But maybe not because I seem to be the only one confused. But OH WELL! Problem solved and I love being able to recycle!
