A children's librarian recommended a bunch of books for me to read to my 8 sensitive yo DD. I started reading Gossamer to her, without pre-reading, and even though I knew right away it was a dark story, we somehow kept on reading. It is also a very beautiful story.
14 chapters into it, I got more and more unsettled, and read ahead, and the abuse scene, when the boy recalls it, is horrific.
I think at this point I'm going to give her the option to continue or not, and if she wants to continue, I might summarise the most difficult parts instead of reading them.
Anyone read Gossamer with a young child? What were your experiences?
