Healing Kit

I am putting together a couple of what I'm calling healing kits for my family. I hate it when someone starts coming down sick and we have to run to the store because we're out of this or that (I'm also a big couponer/bargain shopper and I hate having to pay full price for anything and whenever I'm shopping last minute for Tylenol etc., I always end up having to pay full price!)

The first one I've put together is for tummy bugs and mostly revolves around clean up:

Empty spray bottle
Small bottle of bleach (in case serious sanitizing is necessary)
Disinfecting wipes
old towels
rubber gloves
lysol
paper towels (we don't generally use them)
Crackers
Ginger Ale

The second one is for colds/flu etc.:

Herbal heat pad & cozy
Wool socks
Tissues
Tylenol (adult & children's)
Zinc drops
Extra vitamins (right now just D and C)
Throat Coat tea
nasal aspirator
thermometers
Vapo rub
Homeopathic and "regular" cough syrups and Nyquil

Plus homemade chicken stock is in the freezer and we have a cool mist vaporizer in the garage.

That's what I have so far. I'm trying to brainstorm additional things we need or like to have on hand when someone is sick, but I'm struggling with my list. So I'd like to know what you all would add. I don't know much about homeopathy, nor am I confident in the use of EO's but I do prefer to use traditional and/or natural remedies when possible, but obviously I am not against using things like Nyquil (especially for DH who prefers those kinds of things - although when he had the flu last year I did convince him to take raw crushed garlic several times a day ).

So what is or would be in your ideal healing kit?

I would add more teas. I like Yogi teas a lot. Would also make sure to pick up lemons and garlic weekly with groceries.

I make a vapo-rub substitute from beeswax, olive oil and EOs.

And of course, a big jar of raw honey.

Last year I picked up elderberry syrup, too. I also ferment kombucha and like to keep this on hand. It can be bottled with fresh ginger instead of using ginger ale.

Great suggestions - thanks!

Would you be willing to share your "recipe" for the homemade vapo-rub substitute? I've heard really great things about burning beeswax candles whenever someone has a respiratory virus so this is really appealing to me. Not sure if it would have the same benefits?
