San Mateo/ Foster city/ Redwood city mamas?!

I am Jen! I am about to turn 30, I have 3 kids and I breastfeed the younger 2! I am unshaved and overweight and really funny and easy to talk to! I homeschool, I'm a feminist and I am unapologetic about all of these things!

But I don't need you to be anything like me!

I just woul like someone with children around dd1s age for her to play with- she is 5.

I live in foster city and I do not have a car M-F until 5. We typically walk about 3-4 miles roundtrip for outings, so I can meet at parks during the day.

I am *really* very tired of getting sneered at for nursing my baby and I'm really tired of being the only mom at the park without anyone to talk to.

I also REALLY like myself and my family and I'm not interested in not being myself.

And if you don't live near me and you dont want to meetup, but you ARE reading this- can you comment anyway?

I could use any commiseration as well.

I'm chiming in to encourage all area mamas out there to hang out with Jen and her kids!! She is a dear friend and former park buddy before she moved (sob sob). She is a total riot and her oldest says the coolest things ever. The whole family is incredibly lovable and if I could spend time with them constantly I think I would. The best thing is that you can always be yourself around Jen. Go play with her!

I don't have a 5 year old, but I will totally hang out with you if you want. I live in Santa Clara, but I have a car and driving is no biggie. Just name the day.

Oh, I should probably say, I'm Stacy and I have one kid who is 16 months old (and also still nursing).

I'm right off foster city blvd... There are a bunch of parks nearby...

How about Friday? My kid has just discovered parks so I'm going to have to be a bit hands on so he doesn't kill himself lol!

My only time request is that I miss rush hour traffic.

Friday is good! I'll check out which ones have the smaller toddler play areas and let you know!

I always have to follow my dd2 close- she is a daredevil and accident prone.

So we just drove around checking out the parks... Man there are a lot!

Gull park on gull ave. Is probably the best bet- toddler sized play structure, older play structure, swings, bathroom and beach.

If that sounds good just let me know a time that works.

Hi mama!

I'm in Palo Alto, but that's not too out of the way! And I only have one 13 month old. . .so no one for your DD to play with, but I'd love to hang out anyway. I also have another MDC mama friend who is in Redwood City, who might hang out with us too.

Besides what you can glean from my sigi--I'm almost 35, a feminist, and before motherhood swallowed my brain I was a photographer and art historian. My name is Lucinda. I have met a lot of mamas since having my LO, but haven't found many I really click with (my closest mama friend is someone also from MDC). I can be kind of reserved, so I find it hard to make friends, but it's lonely as a SAHM and I'd love to know some really cool women who I can laugh and cry and commiserate with! It'd be nice to spend less time on MDC (gasp) and more time with RL friends. My LO is very active, so we go somewhere where he can burn off some energy (i.e. someplace he can be physical and loud) everyday. He isn't in love with the car (he hates to stop moving), but as long as we keep the trips to under 30min he does okay. So we could certainly come up to your neck of the woods.

Additionally, have you checked out appen.org? Great group! You can't tell much from the website, but they have a couple of park days a week and a number of monthly get-togethers. Lots of older nursing kids and co-sleeping kids. . .it's so nice to find other parents who are as "weird" as you (or I) am!

Is 1:00 OK? That way I know naptime will be over with time built in to drive. If that's too late I can come earlier and DS can sleep in the car if he needs to (he's a good car kid).

Is it a big park? How will I find you? Just go to the toddler play structure maybe? I'd post a picture but I am soooo not photogenic...wait my kid is though! Here he is.

I must say, I took for granted having a huge mama tribe. Since dd1 was a baby we were surrounded by open minded, diverse, radical, imperfect, amazing families. I have never felt so disconnected in my whole journey through motherhood!

We have had a hard few lonely months, it would be awesome to really get to connect with others!

I am a very socially anxious person, but I love people... Which makes meeting people hard. I tend to get so excited, that I overcompensate.... Vicious cycle.

I'd love to hang out, anytime.

It's not too big a park- the toddler structure is right next to a nicely shaded picnic area- I'll try to set up there...

Your ds is adorable! I'll keep an eye out!

I'd venture to guess you won't miss us! I've got short red hair and three loud kids- I'll probably be wearing the baby.

I live in the East Bay but it wouldn't take long for me to get over the San Mateo Bridge. I have a 1.5 yo baby girl and an almost 8 yo girl who homeschools. I would love to meet up.
