Scarf question

How do you decide how long to make a scarf? I am making one for someone who is quite tall, 6'4, but I have no idea how long to make it. Any suggestions?

I've heard to make the scarf as long as the person is tall. I generally shoot for about 6 feet when I do mine, but I like to wrap mine and have a good tail left.

Yep, about the length of their height. But on washing and blocking it might grow some, depending on your pattern and/or yarn, so you may not have to knit that big.
