Does a child needs to be vaccinate by law to get insurance or going to day care?

We are trying to change insurance providers and they are asking all the questions about health and vaccines. Our baby who is 9 months only had the 2 months vaccines and we have not taking him since. This is due mostly to his really bad eczema, and for now we do not know what cause it. And I thought the vaccines are recommended but not requested by law. What is it true? Can anyone point me to some resources on internet? Can the insurance decline him, or raise the payment because he is not vaccinated? I will like for him to be but I will like to wait a lot longer to be sure it will not be affected from it in a negative way.He also goes to a private day care that requests for vaccines, but I don't think thay check their records, so they don't know about him yet. Still can they kick him out of school for it? And he certain will go to a state preschool. I don't know what to do. I doubt a doctor will give him an exception, because I don't know any around herethat are agaist vaccination. And we want to take him to be tested for allergies but this only the insurance thing will get fixed. Hope this was not too long and that someone may be able to help me to do the right choices.

Where do you live?

Short answer, no.

You can always decline or file an exemption, unless you are in WV or MS.

Beyond that, you will always have to stand your ground.

The state laws regarding vaccinating refers to school entry, and there are exemptions for that. The APA schedule is a recommendation, not a requirement or a law.

Insurance companies won't deny you because you don't vax or won't pay the doctors. Don't worry about it.

This is not entirely accurate. From what I understand this is true of employer based insurance plans, but if you are self-employed and purchasing a private insurance plan, they can (and have) denied coverage based on vaccine status.

Some states mandate vaccines for daycare, others don't.

Most, if not all states allow private care to refuse exemptions.

One or more states do not allow non-medical exemptions in daycare, public or private (not the norm though).

If you have an exemption, public school should not be a problem.

my state allows medical, religious, and philosophical exemptions for vax... however, in my state, daycares are required to keep paperwork on kids's vaccine status in order to maintain ltheir day care license. I don't know the laws in your state... but you may be required to either have up to date vax records or state document of exemption on file with your dcp in order to keep him enrolled at daycare.

Our insurance company has also called (once) to ask several questions about DS's health. Including vax status. I simply stated to them that he has an exemption filed with the State of Oklahoma and said (with the most confident tone of voice that I could muster) "we have done extensive research on vaccines and we are comfortable with our decision." I tried to say it with a tone of finality that this was not up for discussion with the lady of was on the phone with me. I was nice about it, but firm... and she quickly gave me a very respectful, "I'm glad that you are so carefully considering your child's health" and went on to the next question.

Thank you for all your answers. I live in Arkansas and I saw that a personal exemption it is possible. Did any of you do an exemption for their kids? I wonder what kind of process I have to complete to have one. Like what paper work, or what to write in an exemptions. Thank you again a lot about your answers.
