I'm a sub para (which pays slightly less than a sub teacher for our district). I wouldn't say the money is crap. When you're broke then any amount helps ;) However, it might not be too helpful since there are only a couple more weeks of school before the winter break and it would take a little bit to get her name out there and start getting jobs (in our district most jobs are actually requests so if you aren't specifically requested for the jobs then you don't get as many). I started subbing in August. Just in the last couple weeks have I gotten steady jobs (I'm only available 3 days a week right now- last week I worked all 3 days, the week before I worked 2 of the 3 days, this week I worked 1 day (but only had 1 day available to work because of the holidays). I make $10.65/hour (7 hours is a full day). Better than a minimum wage job ;) Sub teachers in my district make $77/day, which works out to $11/hour.
