Just had to share. My almost-DSS (we're not living together yet, I think of him as my DSS but I don't know if I'm allowed to call him that yet) has an event that his dad can't attend. He asked if his mom or me could go, so he wouldn't be alone. I'm so thrilled that he included me in this statement! 
He's super-shy, super-attached to his dad (who has 95% custody) and it's been a long, slow, gentle road to blending our families. This happened after we talked to the kids about all of us moving in together by next summer. I guess he's okay with it!
