how do you hang stuff on your walls in your homeschool area - framed? tacks? tape?
i'm specifically thinking about how i'd like to hang maps and forest service posters with different leaves/birds/etc...and i don't want it to be too expensive, but i want it to look as nice as possible.

I use bulletin boards for the smaller stuff, and things we switch out frequently, such as art. I use pushpins for large posters & maps on the wall. I put a square of packing tape on each corner before pinning it up to make it tougher for the kids to rip them. I'd personally not do frames because one way or another I know my kids would cause them to break. I use a carpenter's level for everything to be sure it's hung straight.

Tape, but it keeps falling off. I have tried that sticky gum looking stuff too, but did not stay up.

What I would love to do is put that tack stuff, in a thinnish trim, across the walls and hang from that. Or hooks. I have seen pictures of home school classrooms and that is what I love.

I have a kind of wire system. I bought it at IKEA but you could make one. It has two ends, and a kind of wire along, with cute sliver clips. I bought some pretty bead looking chains from the craft store to make some of the clips hang lower, and it's strung along one entire wall. The kids can reach this to put things from the clips. Just above that I have white picture ledges also from IKEA, for things in frames, and just standing up. I can't stand hanging pictures! I have picture ledges all over. I like to use them like molding and they are a few inches deep. I normally mold an entire wall length to make it look nice. You can pile TONS of stuff on them!

I use white (non-staining) fun-tak or whatever it's called--that clay-type stuff that you knead in your fingers for a bit and then use it to stick stuff to the wall.

If you get the blue stuff, there's a chance it will stain your wall.

I prefer to do it this way because it's really easy to remove and redo the walls if/when I want to without being locked into where the frames were hung, etc. and it doesn't leave tack holes in the walls.
