what to do with a "diaper cake" - Page 2

I would hold on to it too. I cloth diapers, but there were a few times when we used disposables. We went through 3 packs of disposables for my daughter. One when she had a nasty yeast rash and 2 for hotel/air travel. They're helpful in some circumstances and you might be glad you have them.

i would take it apart, probably keep some of the diapers for a "emergency stash" (they can be donated later), and donate the rest to a shelter or family centre who helps low-income families.

i agree. and i don't see keeping sposies around as being *at all* the same as having formula around "just in case," which i *would* advise against.
I agree too. Using the occasional disposable diaper won't mess up cloth diapering like formula can mess up breastfeeding (and your baby's gut).

I'd ask a local domestic violence shelter or daycare would take them.

i would hang on to it. They can come in handy when you go on vacation etc. I am kind of on the cusp of crunchy in this dept. I used sposies with ds until 10 months then switched mostly to cloth from there. I never went completely cloth because I found for me there were times for them, when i went shopping etc. Or sometimes at night when ds was older, and I am keeping that mentality with this one as well, and I especially see myself using sposies the first few weeks when i will be working on nursing (i had supply issues last time). So keep them and if you don't ever have any need, then donate or CL it.

I would also hang on to them for a while. They don't expire. And it's not like formula when you are breastfeeding IMO.
You can use them for example when your littleone has a rash and you want to use cream. Or when your wasmachine breaks or something.

Donate them but save a couple to have in the car just in case.

I received a diaper cake of organic diapers at my baby shower as well as a couple of packs of Pampers. We donated the Pampers to a pregnancy support center where I volunteer and kept the organic sposies around. They came in handy that first week.

I was at a kids' consignment store a few weeks ago and saw a full-sized disposable-diaper "cake."  I'm sure it came from someone in the same boat as you!  Just another thought about something you could do with it.

i cloth diaper full time and still find it handy to keep a couple sposies around. the last bag we bought she grew out of in size before we used even half, i just gave them to a friend who uses disposables. we have another pack right now that i got while we were travelling (i was taking the train by myself with a 7month old, no WAY i was lugging around a weeks worth of cloth too!) and i am slowly using them up for "errand days" (i.e. days where we're running around non-stop).

i can see that having a large supply of disposables around when you're first getting used to cloth could be a temptation, but it's really not along the same lines as formula!
