I usually spend around $15 if it's from one of the boys or $25 if both boys are going to the pary

I would say around $15, sometimes more sometimes less. Although ds just attented his best friend's party, and we only spent $10. I felt bad and wanted to buy more, but ds picked out out his gifts, and was proud of his choices, so I let it go.

I'm a poor grad student, and DS's friends are only turning three this year, so I've been doing $5 - $10, unless it's a really close friend.

$20ish seems to be the norm around here.  I did go lower for the last b-day party DS went to simply b/c I was way over budget that week, and groceries top b-day present on priorities.
