Worse morning sickness = different gender? Anecdotal evidence needed! - Page 3

I didn't have any morning sickness with my first DS.  This one we just found out it's a girl and I was very sick to my stomach this time around.

This was me exactly for number 1 a boy and number 2 a girl. I had HG with both.

This pregnancy, however, I have been nauseus the whole first trimester and puked at max once a day. Second trimester hit and it seems that I am in the all clear. Completely different then my last two where I lost 32 and 26lbs being pregnant.

All of my pregnancies have been girls. One I had no m/s the others I had it horribly.

One of my best friends has 3 girls and 3 boys ans says hers was much worse with her boys.

Mild with dd1 and horrible, borderline hyperemesis with dd2.  The whole pregnancy with dd2 was worse in every way.  I don't believe it's gender related at all.

I thought I knew what morning sickness was with ds. Then I had dd and knew what morning sickness is and it was awful!!!!

I've been wondering that. I had insane morning sickness with DS. With him I threw up twice a day every day until second trimester. This one I didn't get sick to the point of throwing up til 10 weeks and only had that happen three times. I've been told when it's opposite that usually means opposite gender. With a heartbeat at 160 I'm guessing this one is a girl.

During my first pregnancy I had moderate morning sickness and absolute exhaustion during the first trimester. I could hardly leave the couch and would often crawl to the kitchen to get something to eat, and then slowly choke down the food; eating was pleasure-less. With that pregnancy we had a girl.

Now with my second pregnancy I have had a ton of energy from day one and absolutely no morning sickness. I actually felt more energetic during my first trimester than I normally do when I am not pregnant. So... naturally based on the differences I was assuming this baby was a boy. WRONG! We just had the ultra sound this week and were told it was definitely another girl. (We are so excited!)

So... I think the differences have less to do with gender and more to do with different types of babies.

Dd- hyperemesis from 6 weeks to 14 weeks

Ds- slightly less severe hyperemesis from 8 weeks to 14 weeks

Ds2- hyperemesis but the least severe of all my pregnancies from 6 weeks to 16 weeks

Ds3- most severe hyperemesis of all my pregnancies from 5 weeks to 18 weeks

Sex hasn't been a reliable indicator at all- whether or not my pregnancy was planned or a 'surprise' seemed to have some correlation.

I can certainly relate. I think it's just an old wives tale for the most part because I have known people who were worshipping the porcelain Gods with the daughters but I know a few people who were just as sick with their sons. On the contrary, I know people who never suffer from morning sickness with either sex. I personally had a dull nausea feeling from month 1 all the way till delivery with my son....threw up one time the entire time. My daughter, I was SO sick till 6-7 months when it started to lessen. I was on meds from week 9 with her and although I never threw up, I came dangerously close and hardly anything worked. I'm a person who can't handle throwing up so I made sure to get on the meds as soon as I found out I was preggers at 4 weeks. I am confident if it hadn't been for zofran and phergen, b6 and unison all taken together to stop the nausea, I would most likely have been in the hospital. This time around, I am 5 weeks and my severe nausea started two weeks ago and has been on rampage since. Again, the phergen is barely working alone so far so I have a sinking feeling the pregnancy is gonna be another bad one. But I really don't think it's another girl. So who knows?
