Physically preparing baby for surgery/post-op

My son was born with some structural deformities to his right hand which limit the use of his thumb. We knew that he would need surgery to restructure the bone/ligaments and hopefully enhance function of the thumb. He'll be having the surgery in just under 2 weeks. He's 7 mos. old and exclusively BFd. He will have to be under general anesthesia for the surgery which should be around a 2 hr. procedure. I'm not entirely sure of what the recovery will be like but I know that he will be bandaged and the use of his hand will be fully restricted for a while.

I'm trying to figure out what I can do to help boost his system to process the anesthesia well, deal with whatever antibiotics I'm sure he'll be given and to help manage his pain. None of my children have ever responded very well to conventional meds. I'm also not sure what I should bolster in my own intake to pass along to him via breast milk vs. what I should give directly to him ("virgin gut" and all). I'm thinking maybe some homeopathics, vit. C (sodium ascorbate) and not sure what else, but I also don't know which/how much of the former either.

Any thoughts?

there are companies that make an anesthesia detox remedy (homeopathic) that works beautifully. I generally just use low potency remedies to encourage the body to get rid of anything it needs to. I also use crab apple flower essence to help with it as well. I would personally be giving them to the babe.

I'd probably also do epsom salt soaks afterwards. You're going to need to keep his hand protected so you can do foot baths instead. My kids used to love that (but my arms got reeeaaaaal tired.)

I would also use homeopathy for pain management. It works beautifully, but you do have to be on top of it. This can be in addition to pain meds if you are more comfortable with that. It generally facilitates healing and speeds things up even when given alongside medications. The issue (for me) is that if you aren't comfortable knowing what to watch for you probably don't want to rely on homeopathy alone.

Best of luck! I'll be thinking good thoughts for you both!

Any more last-minute suggestions? Surgery is tomorrow morning (I will be getting epsom salts tonight and have the crab apple and ample homeopathic remedies on-hand-couldn't find any anesthesia detox though).
