favorite baby toys?

I have a little girl who will be 8 months old at Christmas and the grandparents are clamoring for gift ideas. Problem is, I have a 4.5 year old girl who was 8 months old at her 1st Christmas too, so we have you know, everything.

What are your favorite toys/gifts for little ones?

No babies out there have any toys? I'd love to give family some ideas for things they don't have in Toys R Us or Walmart.

Cecilia's favorite toys are crinkly wrapping paper (the Mylar stuff that doesn't tear) and boxes, so that's not too much help!

How about Waldorf toys or any of the Manhattan Toys? Cece does love her Manhattan Toys!

My 8 month old LOVES the remote. And not the "play" remote, she knows the difference. She also likes wooden spoons, random pieces of paper, metal measuring spoons. Mostly things she can't have. I usually insert paci and give her things she shouldn't have, like her sister's barbie (shhh).

We did get her a book that has pics of babies that she likes.

The grandparents are also asking about xmas presents, they were before halloween. Shheesh.

I am wanting this and this for her besides a new highchair.

Also thinking about a mommy and me class...swimming or yoga or something.

She likes noisy toys for a little while, like the ball popper.

We love just about anything made by HABA or Plan Toys. Nicely made "true toys" are really great!

Small nesting cups. My 10 month old just discovered these and probably would have sooner but they've been with the bath toys.

I got ds a ball drop and soft ring stacker, I think it's Tiny Love. They have them at Target. He's not stacking them much but loves to drop the balls in and see them roll out. It can take batteries for added "entertainment music" which I've chosen not to do.

Small matchbox size cars. Ds 2 never plays with the larger wood rolling cars which I thought were so nice, but alway goes for ds 1 matchbox cars. He also likes ds 1's wooden trains.

A big soft cloth ball.

I saw a great little wood ball toy, it was a link of 7-8 colored wood balls, at Barnes and Noble, I think it was Manhattan. Ds didn't want to let it go when I let him hold it the other day.

my DS will also be 8 months at Christmas! Right now he loves Sophie, Winkle (Manhattan Toy), Whoozit (Manhattan Toy), then anything crinkly.

you might suggest something that she'll grow into-- I figure the gift will be the last until next Christmas, right?

DS got one of these animals just before his first birthday: http://www.mamasandpapas.com/range/r...s-horses/3710/

And he love love loved it. Maybe your LO won't be able to use it right away, but she may adore the music, feel and other details. It was good for him to use up to about 3....that's some serious playtime for a baby toy.

DS had Stanley the Snail, but there are several types.

He also loved his wooden shape sorter and bath toys of all kinds. (especially bath finger paints! )
