Myth or reality about frequent Number 2 trips to the bathroom

Hello everyone !

One of our friends told us that when you start going number two more frequently, it means your baby is coming soon...

Well that made us freak out because DP's number two rythm has increased to twice a day instead of once, including in the middle of the night. And we are not even 26 weeks yet..... These twins are NOT ready to come out !

So..... does anyone know if our friend's advice is true or false ?

Coco

I don't think it's a gradual thing (like how your dp now goes twice as much), but it can be a sign right before actual labor...meaning severe diareaha that keeps you running to the potty...it is a way to clear you out for labor...

so i don't think the days leading up to it matter (in terms of an increase in overall bms)

I'm going to say it's both myth and reality. Just as how it can go either way with mucus plugs, dilation, and Braxton Hicks.

I'm at 33.5 weeks, and my bowels have been going nuts for about 2 weeks. Other than adding to my paranoia, it doesn't seem to be doing much.

I agree. Diarrhea can be a sign of labor about to start, although it's not necessarily. Just going 2X per day instead of once I don't think is anything to worry about at all.

its a pregnancy symptom for me, not a prelabor one.

actually, just before I went into labor I was going LESS!

It was a prelabor symptom for me with my first two, but with this one it's been a constant pregnancy companion.

I only had that as a sign with my last baby, but it was not gradual like that. I went into labor at 2:30am, but all day before that I had very frequent loose stools and not much appetite. At the time I thought I'd just eaten something that didn't agree with me, because I'd never had that as a labor sign before. It wasn't until after the baby was born that I looked back and thought, "aha".
