Uti??

This might get a little convoluted, and FTR I have an appt to go to a lab to have a urine culture done later today...just curious as to what you mamas think...

1. I did have a UTI on 10/9 after dtd with DH (the night before, which is when I believe we conceived)
2. I POAS 10/20 on a whim after STILL having UTI symptoms, just to rule out pregnancy before calling my GP and getting on antibiotics
3. obviously, got the positive so I never did call for the antibiotics, just assuming that they were pregnancy signs
4. I had repeated UTI's during my last pregnancy, but never knew it until they told me at my appointments...ended up on a constant low dose of abx for the last couple months or so of my pregnancy

I am still urinating frequently, my whole body aches, having some cramping that has turned into af-like cramping in my lower back, have felt feverish on and off the last few days (but never have had a temp when I've taken it)...no spotting, so could easily put these down to getting a cold (which I think I am) and early pregnancy signs...BUT, I am worried that if it IS still a lingering UTI that I could lose this baby, which doesn't even seem real to me yet anyways...

am I overreacting/reading too much into plain old pregnancy symptoms? I'm just paranoid that I got my first ever non-pregnant UTI right around when I'm 99.9% certain we conceived, and the fact that I unknowingly had repeated UTI's last pregnancy...

feeling feverish (even if you don't actually have a fever) is a sign that there is an infection and your body can't regulate your temperature properly. for me, it was a big clue when i was having some random symptoms which turned out to be parasites (not that you have parasites!)...what i'm saying--it's not normal to feel feverish. especially when you take into account the rest of your symptoms.

UTI's in pregnancy are really common and easily treatable, i would call your doctor and get tested for a UTI....

UTIs are indeed common and treatable in pregnancy... but pregnancy makes them more dangerous not to treat. If it develops into a kidney infection it could put the pregnancy at risk.

I highly suggest getting tested. Even if you dont want abx, you can treat it with cranberry pills and LOTS of water. Lower the amount of sugar you eat during the time you self treat too. If it hurts, AZO makes pills you can take that will numb your bladder and urinary tract (they dye your pee bright orange...)

if you are prone to them, i suggest letting your doctor know to be sure to test at every appointment too... I have had plenty of asymptomatic ones (no symptoms at all!) during pregnancy caught by testing every visit.

thanks, mamas...that's what I figured...and, as mentioned above, I already talked to my OB this morning, and am going to the lab after to work today to have a culture done...I'd rather feel silly and NOT have anything wrong than to leave an infection untreated!

I would normally stay away from abx unless absolutely necessary and just let nature take it's course, but I'm a bit more conservative when it comes to pregnancy...gotta keep our little bean safe and healthy!
