Milk Supply low after eight months..need suggestions please!

hello everyone!!

I EBF my little boy until he started solids @6months. Now that he is 8months & eating solids more regularly, I have found my milk supply has decreased. I don't pump very often & now when I need to be away from him for a few hours, I can't seem to pump as much as an ounce!

I seem to nurse him just fine. In fact, he seems to be nursing more at night now, but I don't know if that's just a comfort thing since he is nursing a little less during the day.

Could it be a milk supply issue or the fact that I'm not pumping regularly, or both?

Any suggestions on how I can increase milk supply (I have tried the teas & tinctures)& have some success at pumping would be great. Thank you.

I recently tried Lactate Support capsules. They have really increased my supply.

Your milk supply isn't low - it has been perfectly matched to what your baby needs, which is why you aren't pumping a huge amount. Pumping more often will help stimulate more milk production, but you want to make sure you don't end up with oversupply.

This. The pump is not a good indicator of supply. Always look to your LO to see how your supply is. Adequate weight gain, wet & poopy diapers, etc. GL!

Make sure you don't need new pump parts. Membranes in particular die after about 6 months of use. Pump at a time when he normally eats (sounds like evening for you). Know it is normal for many women to have to pump twice for a single feeding. Alfalfa works magic for me, one to three caplets will boost my supply within 12 hours. Worth a shot if you don't have peanut allergy (alfalfa's in the same family and high dose can trigger reaction).

ITA, if he is eating more foods, and isn't at the breast as much your body is matching his need.

If you would like to nurse more, then start offering more, your supply will catch up.

Also have you had PPAF? I noticed a drop before AF.
