St. Margaret, !!!!! I know what you're saying about being foiled at every turn by your body betraying you, and feeling guilt that you're not doing your "best" by the baby. I feel that way my entire freaking pregnancy (every one of them), because of the nausea, resorting to taking medications, unable to consume enough protein or "healthy" food, etc. Today dh and I went out to lunch and I started tearing up and getting all emotional. He asked me what was wrong and I said, "I'm just so overwhelmed at how wonderful it's going to be after I have this baby and I can look at a menu and actually find more than one or two items that look appealing to me!" Anyway, here's to us having our babies and then getting these bodies healthy again, eh?
Farren, about your BP. Are you spilling protein in your urine? Even if you are, ask about a 24 hr urine test to get a more accurate idea of what's going on with your body. If your BP is slowly getting higher but your kidney function is good and your placenta is still nourishing baby, etc., then you could more easily bargain your way out of an induction. But I'm just hoping you spontaneously go into labor SOON so you don't have to worry about it!
Misa, how scary to be in a car accident while pregnant! I'm glad you're all ok!
Catie, to you too. I'm confident that I'll be getting a text from you soon!
Fern, I hope you got your bathroom cleaned and are now peacefully laboring away! I wanted to tell you that I loved your belly pic, but didn't get a chance before the boards went down!
Meta, wow, that sounds like it should've been the real deal! :sad or not, if you felt like that wasn't a good time for you. I wouldn't stress too much about the GBS thing. And I know *exactly* what you mean about not being able to do too much when you wake up in labor because it's so intense, but I did with ds, and it wasn't a big deal. I had a couple *awful* ctx, hobbled to the bathroom to pee, saw bloody show, stepped into the tub with my chlorhexidine in the peri bottle (I'd had it on the bathroom shelf ready to go), squirted it up there and all around, dried off, got dressed and sped off to the hospital. It took all of 30 seconds, I think. And I hope all the stuff I wrote didn't seem over the top or like fear-mongering. I didn't mean it to come off that way. I really think that with your history of fast labors, you're in a really good place. Oh yeah, and BTW, where the heck are all of our emoticons?!!!
Speaking of ctx and false labors and such, I've been having ctx that wrap around to my lower back too, but only at night when I have the really intense ones. Does that mean something bad about baby's position? I've never had those before. And also, I keep having horrible rectal pressure/jabs. I *think* baby is in the same position as always, but this weirdness is throwing me off. Maybe she's just lower than she was before...?
Dh and I did lunch and some shopping today to get out of the house. He's off work until next Wednesday, so the pressure's off for a while, and I can just relax and.... go into labor? That would be nice! Then my in-laws came over and dh made burgers for dinner while I laid on the couch and knitted. My under rib pain is driving me to the brink of insanity! Anyway, I desperately wanted to come on here, but didn't want to be rude to my in-laws! :sad Dh went to a poker party at a friend's house after they left, and the kids are both in bed, so now I finally got to come on here and see what's going on with everybody!
I was on MDC a lot over ten years ago when dd was a baby, and I remember they changed the forum (or whatever you call it) then. It felt a lot more intimate then, but I guess it's just grown so much, which is a good thing. I had a different username then, otherwise I might be a "senior member" by now! Anybody else go back that far?
Ok, serious baby explosion here! I can hardly keep up! Meta, I think the "grand finale" is just beginning!
