DS Got a Small Cut - Infected?

Yesterday when DS was playing with two buddies he somehow managed to get a small cut right next to his lower lip. Not on the lip skin itself, but right adjacent to it. Maybe it was his own tooth that did it, or something he was playing with. It bled a little...I dabbed at it with a wet paper towel and then dabbed it from time to time with a dry towel so avoid getting little spots of blood all over the living room. I'll admit that I didn't really check on it for the rest of the day, but I think I would've noticed if something was really evident.

So, this morning, where the cut was, there's kind of a small blister-type thing...it has a vaguely yellow cast, and the skin is red right around it. The whole thing (red included) is small.

I'm wondering if I should leave it alone, or if there's something I should put on it (that would be safe for him to ingest, since it's right next to his lip and he's likely to suck his lower lip in).

I seem to remember DS getting a lip injury that did something similar, maybe it is just how it scabbed over? Keep it clean and perhaps rub some olive oil on it to keep it from cracking open. That's what I would do.

Also, I think I remember gently popping DS's blister to release what was inside, I put a very warm compress on it for a few minutes and it kind of gave on it's own with little to no extra pressure or squeezing. That's when I cleaned it really well to wash all the stuff away. But again, that's just me.

Lanolin is what a lot of people use for cracked nipples when breastfeeding, you could probably use some of that instead of the olive oil.
