A question or 2

Hi there! Currently we are homeschooling out nearly 4y/o son. He seems quite advanced as he is already reading quite well (Level 1 "I can read" books). We are looking into options for the the future. Were he in PS here he would be in Junior Kindergarten. Next year SK. His cousin is in SK and she is only just learning to read....so our concern is that to put him in PS next year or the following he may be quite ahead of his peers, an be disruptive/bored. A friend recommended Montessori (his very precocious daughter was in it for a few years until they moved).....ok all that said...can Montessori generally be started at any age or must they start from the beginning?

Montessori education can start at any age. My nearly 4 year-old daughter started in casa at 3.5 and loves it. Not all Montessori schools are created equally, so it is a very good idea to tour/talk with the guides at the school. Have your child visit so he can see if he likes it, too.

4 is a good age to start. (3 is better usually, but have had many students start at 4).

That said, there are some schools (not all) that will ONLY start at 3. I don't agree with that necessarily, but they are out there. So just warning you in case you run into them.

Hope you find a good match.

Thank you both!! The earliest start wouldn't be till next year at nearly 5. I will do some research over the next year and see what they have to offer!
