Recently I went to a community birth discussion where they showed a documentary for our state concerning premature birth and followed it with a panel and public discussion. One of the things discussed during the film and the discussion was the importance of community during pregnancy and fellowship with other expectant mom's that are going through similar things as you are.
After leaving my dh commented "You know those groups they were talking about... that is a lot like what your DDC was for you."
He was so right!
We live in a small rural community where AP parenting is not very popular at all. We had to travel a little over 2 hours north just to go to the discussion I just wrote about.
I had never really had much support during a pregnancy before and was hesitant at first to post much over at my DDC. But as time went by and my pregnancy became more complicated and difficult, twins that developed twin to twin transfusion syndrome, I started to post more and more. Even once my boys were born, 5 weeks possible as much as 8 weeks premature, I continued to receive much needed support and encouragement. I honestly wonder how I would have made it through nearly 2 months of bed-rest and everything that followed without the much needed emotional healing and encouragement the wonderful ladies of my DDC provided for me.
So I just wanted to write a post thanking MDC for providing us with this wonderful option on their online community. I wish I had something like this with my other children.
I would love to hear from other members on how DDC's helped you as well.
