What should I give my boobie addict

DD is just a about 20 months. She nurses about every 2 hours. She still
Nurses several times at night.

If I need to be away for an hour or more I leave pumped milk. DH says she just isn't satisfied with water and solid food. I'm not getting much for the
pump and therefore need to pump multiple times to be gone for a few hours. That just isn't practical. I got some
drinking yogurt and DH said DD loved it. I was ok with that as an occasional treat. I'm needing to be gone a bit more the next few weeks (just a few hours a day) so DD has had a drinking yogurt everyday. I am concerned about the sugar and flavoring. Would she be better off with cows milk? I like that the yogurt is cultured, just not the extra stuff.

I will still pump, but I need something to supplement what milk I can get. My shopping choices are limited to the local
Grocery. The whole foods and coop are both too far away.

20 months?

well, how much and how long you nurse if up to you, but at 20m an average kid can eat table foods if you need to leave for more than an hour.

When I stopped pumping for DS at 12m I started with goat milk. It is most similar to human and easiest to digest and is *actually* a milk unlike soy or almond.

Also, if she likes yoghurt, you can make some (homemade is always thinner if you don't add things like dry milk) or you can try kiefer (sp?)

My local Kroger sells both Kiefer and goat milk. (Neither are cheap )

What about diluted juice or pedialyte? She does not have to drink milk, sounds like she will be getting more than enough from you, even with your new schedule. And if you are only gone for 3-4 hrs, it won't hurt her to not drink during that time, although she may not be much fun for who ever is keeping her. Goat milk is a great substitute.

....or perhaps blend one of the organic brands of vanilla yogurt with some water so that it's drinkable.

Would it be crazy to blend the yogurt with some skim milk?

DH wants me to keep up the drinking yogurt (it is at least organic) or buy some small bottles of organic whole
Cows milk.

I am gently nudging DH to stick to food and water as much as possible, but he is in charge when he has her and she really does melt down at the hour mark.

I would not give a 20 month old flavored yogurt at all. If you want to give her something healthy you should try some plain kefir. It is thin and drinkable and quite healthy for her little intestinal tract. My favorite brand is Helios. You may have trouble getting her to drink the plain flavor since she is used to sweetened yogurts but I would give it a try! She could definitely have that everyday.
