Disappearing Stitch- Help

Okay so I am knitting a cozy baby cocoon and using two strands. Simple pattern just stocknette all the way around. Anyhow, I lost a stitch but there is no ladder where I dropped it. No hole or anything. It is like I had 10 stitches on my needle and then I had nine. What could I have done? I am positive I didn't knit 4 strands together like a knit2tog stitch. I am a a total newbie, but I know what it normally looks like when you drop a stitch, I have done it enough Is there any way it could look like it wasnt dropped though it was? Wouldn't it ladder all the way to the bottom... I am a good 6 inches up, using DPN size 13 needles.. ( not sure if that helps) Any help would be great! Thanks

Is your yarn really slippery or a bit fuzzy. With fuzzy yarn you can drop and stitch and it won't ladder because the fuzz kinda holds it in place. It it's only ten stitches then I would go back to the beginning and count the number of stiches in a row.. then go up and inch and count that row... until you find the section where you drop to 9 stitches. If it's more than say 20 stiches that could be a crazy making exercise so I would examine you knitting really carefully for something that just looks different. A dropped stitch that hasn't laddered will just look like a loop that doesn't belong. Once you find it... put a safety pin through the loop so that it doesn't ladder. You can try to weave it up but that can be really hard if you've been knitting for a while without that stitch, you may have to rip back your knitting to that point and then knit up with all of your stitches. Good Luck!

If it were me and you can't notice it in the work I would just leave it alone. If it were a project for me of course.
