Anyone here using a choline supplement?

I've been reading a ton about the benefits of choline in our diets as pregnant mamas, but I'm uncertain which supplement might be the right supplement. I know I need to see a midwife/ob about this, but I'm curious as to whether you take a choline supplement, and which one.

I do get a good amount in my prenatal vitamins and my diet, but I'm nursing and pregnant, so I'd like to boost the amount.

Thoughts?!??!

Nope... I didn't realise they existed! I do try to eat two eggs a day, though.

If I remember correctly the food sources very high in choline are bacon and eggs (yep just checked, great sources). I dunno about anyone else but I love a good excuse for a nice breakfast of bacon and eggs!

Garlic powder also has choline. I sprinkle it on pretty much every meat... except bacon (and ham) of course.

The prenatal vitamin packet from Metagenics has a choline pill in it (in addition to a multi, calcium, 2 DHA/EPA and a separate omega-3). It is a lot of vitamins to take but worth it. The first time I heard about choline was through my FIL who is an MD that practices homeopathy. He has done a lot of research about brain development and highly recommends a supplement of choline for pregnant and nursing moms.

WifeofAnt: Thanks for the chart! Sadly it looks like two of the highest sources (after bacon and eggs, yay!) are veal and liver. Bleugh. I keep finding all these compelling reasons to eat liver, but it's so freaking vile. I even froze it with the intentions of swallowing it in little raw frozen "pills", but I only downed about four before I started retching.

I missed garlic on the list - does actual fresh garlic have decent levels, or just the powder?

Anyway, this thread just reminded me that I haven't taken any supps for a few days. Better do that.

I am taking 600 mg a day, and trying to eat plenty of eggs as well. The one I take is TwinLab, but honestly I didn't choose it for any particular reason. I just use that one because it's the only brand my local Earth Fare carries.
