O predictor test question

I am BFing 15 month old DD and have not had PPAF yet, but have had cyclical changes for the last 4 months. This morning I woke up with the feeling that I am about to ovulate--very heavy uterus, a bit crampy, and tender breasts. Checked my CM (which I am no pro at) and it is wet, thin, and stretchy, but not quite EW yet (I had EW last month for sure). I used one of those ovulation predictor tests from the dollar tree just now (first time ever) and there is a faint pink line in the test spot--the test says the line must be as dark or darker than the control (which it isn't) to indicate LH and ovulation, but there is def. a line there--right away, not an evap line.

I am not familiar with these tests at all--Should I continue to take the daily and see what happens--if I get a darker line eventually? Should I assume it means nothing? Does this mean I may be ovulating in coming days?

Help me decide please.

We are excited about the idea of TTC #2, but not exactly sure we want to catch the first egg pr start NOW--thinking more like January, but the thought that I may be fertile NOW is kinda making me REALLY excited and I am not sure I will wait until January

TIA

I haven't been using the OPK's for long but when I take them I notice that they tend to get progressively darker then lighter over a period of 2-3 days and the rest of the time they are stark negative. So I think it would be worth it for you to keep taking them.

I'm no help to you, but I'm in the same boat and have been wondering about using OPTs to predict my return to fertility.

So I hope some more mamas chime in.

BTW: on peeonastick.com she has a OPT "diary" of a mama returning to fertility and using opts over the course of a couple months. It clearly shows her gearing up to O a number of times, and then finally actually Oing for the first time PP. It's pretty cool. Here's the link: http://www.peeonastick.com/opkodyssey.html

I used OPKs last year when I was TTC... I am a good example of what these tests do and what they don't do. They measure your LH surge, which means they tell you if your body is _trying_ to gear up for ovulation. They _don't_ tell you that you _will_ ovulate. I got positive OPK tests when I was not ovulating (shown by zero antral follicle counts on ultrasound before IVF).

In your situation, who knows if you are ovulating, but it sounds like your body is trying to based on LH surge.

I have the same question! Hoping to see more opinions.

@kismetbaby - thank you for the poas link!

a faint line on an OPK means nothing other than that you do not have an LH surge. You can get a faint line any time in your cycle... and some brands you can get a faint line by running it under water!,

Rather than waste a whole lot of OPKs, altho you might want to do it for fun just this time, i would observe my cycles, chart, and start using tthe opks when i think there is a good chance i will be ovulating.

In my experience, i get alot of ewcm whilst breastfeeding, but this doesnt prove ovulation. It just means your body is trying to ovulate. This could go on for a long time, without any real pattern. ....the cramping though is  a good sign.

Grrr!  I am in the exact same boat!  My son is almost 16 months and I felt like I ovulated on Sunday and then got a positive OPK on Thusday and I also have sore nipples etc.  Well hopefully if I didn't ovulate I will in the next few months.  last time my cycles retuned at 18 months post Partem and it took four months to concieve.  I'm not really in a hurry either except the the signs of intending fertility made me excited and anxious for another baby cooking NOW as opposed to in a few months.  Gook luck to you on ovulating!  Send me some too!
