I just have to really agree with this statement. It feels so good to get all this stuff out of my house. I watched a bit of that Hoarders show and realized that at our old house we lived a bit like this, and since that time (about 8 years ago) I've been working hard to change how we live, and digging out layer after layer of "too much stuff". So every bag that goes out gives us breathing room, and more and more room to appreciate what we have! I do still have stuff to clean out, but I don't think I'll get to any special projects today, I'm going to a meeting at the Early Intervention office, but I hope that this week I can get to:
Â
The buffet
my closet
the medicine cabinet
Â

I love this keeping track thing:
Â
3 paper sacks of kids books
1 box full of broken toys and old playdough
other misc trash
1 pile of boxes out to recycling
1 low flow showerhead, 1 low flow kitchen head
Â
So sort of 57 more things to go.
Â
And 1 playroom better arranged! Worth more than all these 150 things!
One large bag of trash
one large bag of clothes and toys for goodwill
one pile of broken hangers
one bag full of used polymailers (why was I holding onto that?)
Â
Stroller and pack and play picked up today
2 boxes of hypoallergenic drink picked up today from freecycle (my son didn't like the flavors)
2 big things in the trash from the playroom (plus several surfaces dusted!)
1 bra listed on freecycle (large expensive)
1 bottlewarmer listed on freecycle, hopefully will get picked up tomorrow!
Â
45 more things or piles of things to go!
Â
Plus one daughters room that can now be walked through, worth every moment!
7. Bag of gender neutral new born clothes to go to neighbor.
8. Another pair of toddler shoes.
9. WEIRD - ugly - homemade Christmas shirt to go to Good Will.
10. Bag of out-of-style and slightly stained baby clothes to go to day care for extras.
Â
(and I'll amend how I'm counting to do myself some favors!) But - most of this is still riding around in my car. I need to make them go AWAY!
Â
11. Sweater with puffy sleeves from the early 90s - gone to good will.Â
12. Set of 3 hooks still in the package - Good Will.Â
Â
(and all of the crossed off stuff plus 11 and 12 have actually left my possession.Â
Â
Rest of the toddler clothes finally left my car and
Â
13. another pair of toddler shoes
14. Kindergarten Open-house yard sign that has been hanging around since LAST november. We do re-use them but mine never got back to the school.Â
Â
Â
Need to add to this list: Seb's closet
Â
Quote:
Another large black trashbag of clothes out the door (from my closet)
Another handful of trash
2 pairs of stretched out socks in trash
18 pairs of babylegs and babysocks ready for the freecycle gal
9 toddler prefolds out the door (the long skinny ones, kept the short-fat GMD and Nikki's ones)
Â
14 more individual things or piles to go! (I'd long been done if I counted each thing individually, but I don't want to lose my motivation!)
13. another pair of toddler shoes
14. Kindergarten Open-house yard sign that has been hanging around since LAST november. We do re-use them but mine never got back to the school.Â
Â
Well - if we can count things thrown away:
15-16. 2 pictures DD made with birdseed kind of glued to them.
Â
1 ripped shirt in the trash
5 items put into the new thrift pile
Â
Â
8 more to go and the house isn't quite done!
Â
a pile of papers to burn
2 phone books out to recycling
missing snow pants-FOUND! now everybody has a pair to wear this year!
4 more items placed into thrift pile (better get a bag!)
a few more issues of Boys Life found, all stacked neatly together to drop off at doctor next time we go
random homeschooling stuff placed on bookshelf with other stuff (isn't wonderful there is room to put it!)
bottlewarmer and baby socks actually left the house today, but I counted them earlier
Â
So technically 1 more thing to get rid of and I've reached 150, but I don't want to stop yet!
Â
Off to sort clothes under Seb's bed, and fold the other laundry!
Â
I've also made pickled beets today and the pumpkin butter is almost done. Very productive day, I start working full time again on Wednesday and work full time all the way through into the new year. These 10 days off have been wonderful for getting things done!
Â
To Do List:
Â
The buffet
my closet
the medicine cabinet
Seb's closet
Charlie's clothes under Seb's bed
space under the printer
Â
19 more items of clothes moved into "go away piles". 9 items placed in "to put on Spots Corner" pile. 177 things purged!
