DD (newly 5) will be attended K next year. We start registration in Jan. She is bright and academically and socially totally ready for K. She had delays when younger (feeding therapy, PT, etc) but has come so very far. The only lingering preemie 'issue' is she has no bowel/bladder control at this point. We do not forsee it being 'solved' by next fall.
We dont know why. She has chronic constipation and has since birth. She is on reflux meds and HIGH doses of Miralax. We are being seen by a GI specialist. They have MRI'd her spine (no SB occulta), and we did bowel biopsies last week...waiting on results. THe urine incontinence is thought to be a result of the bowels pushing on the bladder and not a seperate issue. She has not ever been potty trained , in any way--despite many tries.
We will be writing a 504 for her to make sure her needs are met at school, but I am not sure what or how to request or ask/who or what to take care of her restroom needs.
K is all day here- so someone will HAVE to help her to make sure she does not get rashes, leaks, etc.
Anyone have a fully ambulatory, non-potty trained K child in a general ed classroom? How was it handled? Socially how did it go? Medically how did it go?
