Hi, My DS has not yet had his MMR vaccine. I wanted to wait until he was speaking. He was a preemie and reached all his dev. milestones on time with the exception of expressive language. No big deal, no disorder, just a late talker. He's combining 2 words together and very verbal despite not talking in sentences. Anyway, we delayed all vaccines and his final one is MMR. He will go to preschool around his 3rd birthday. When do you suggest we do this? We cannot get them separated at our office either. Any advice/input appreciated.

make sure he's not ill at all when the shot is administered. watch for reactions no matter how old he is...never give acetaminophen (Tylenol) before or after the MMR (it reduces the body's ability to mount an antibody response). If you are concerned, I'd also supplement with vit a and c for a few weeks before administering the shot.

I'm glad I came across this, I will be in the exact same boat (my son was a preemie too). I noticed 13 sandals mentioned no tylenol before or after which is interesting, I've always given my son tylenol 15 minutes before his first vax. This MMR vax is my biggest concern, I dont want to mess anything up, I'm glad you mentioned my tyenol after, how long after the shot can I give him tyenol?
