Mastitis treatment question

My LO is almost ten months and I came down with really bad mastitis for the second time since she was born. I went to the dr Friday morning and started antibiotics and was also diagnosed with a really bad upper resp infection. My fever broke Friday afternoon and most of the flu-like symptoms have gone away. However, the lump is still there and its still really tender? When will the lump go away?

By the way, the dr didn't do an exam. He wasn't my regular dr and he just took my word for it when I told him I was pretty sure I had mastitis again, especially since he was already prescribing an antibiotic for the respiratory infection.

Also, should my babe be fussy at that breast? She seems to be but then she isn't feeling well this weekend either so it could just be that.

nak

what are you doing for the lump so far? Some can be really stubborn. Of course, nursing as much as you can on that side should help, but sometimes it takes massage, hot showers, massage in the shower/bath, etc to move it. kellymom has some great info:

I had to use all of these and ice after nursing and ibuprofen to move my plug.

hope you can clear it soon!

It has gotten better and almost gone away so that is great but I'm going to have to go off the antibiotic because it is making me sick (stomach pains, severe bloating) even with a probiotic...  Thanks for asking!
