Is my daycare feeding too much??? Help!

My 10# 11 week old is only in daycare for 5 or 6 hours a day but they are feeding her approximately 9 ounces of milk a day. I can't keep up and I'm only about a day ahead now for milk. I pump four times a day and only get about 10 ounces from those 4 pumpings. Does this seem right? I know that they will drink easier from a bottle - is this the case? Please help - I'm so stressed.

Thanks ~

Laurie

I dont have an answer but I have a similar situation. My DS grandparents baby sit him since he was 3 mo(now he is 7 mo) and this issue was a MAJOR sore point. I feel thye offer him milk at the slighest hint of fussiness because of course that calms him down, but they don't realize that when he is nursing he does not take that much milk at all and is still satisfied! Now, he takes the bottle 4 times when I am away for 9 hrs...we have to supplement 1.5 feeds because of course I can't pump that much milk.

I hope you find a solution for this quickly Mama!

I'd say that was on the higher end of the range. Is that 3 3 oz bottles?

Have you tried sending a little less in each bottle to see if babe is still satisfied? My DS is a social drinker and wants a bottle whenever he sees another kid with one. The first 3 weeks he was in daycare (5.5 months) he overate until he was more adjusted.

DS drank 3 oz bottles at 12 weeks. He would nurse before I left for work, take 1 bottle in the morning, nurse on my lunch break, and 1 bottle in the afternoon. He is 8 months now and still takes 3 oz bottles, he just takes 4 of them since I can no longer get to him for lunch.

Thank you for your responses everyone!

I really do think she is over-feeding, so I'll talk to her about it today. I nurse dd when I drop her off and then again when I pick her up, so there is no need for her to be drinking a 5 ounce bottle at one feeding. Thank you for your support!

DS is nearly a year old and still drinks max a 5 oz bottle. Normally an ounce per hour you are away is pretty normal, I should think. I agree, try making smaller bottles.
