Looking for some suggestions. I used Blooming Body Belly Bliss with my first, but it's hard to justify the expense this time around...Tried Earth Mama Angel Baby body butter with my second and wasn't completely excited about it. I do have this heavenly pregnancy massage oil from a little apothecary in Ojai, CA- but it's almost gone. So perfect time to get recommendations! What are you using? And if you make your own, care to share the recipe?

Well I used Mother's Special Blend (Mountain Ocean) and it was ok...also used cocoa butter, weleda lavender oil, coconut oil and shea butter. Of all of this my fave was/is coconut oil. Cheap and wonderful...even smells good.

I used plain old coconut oil last time and found that it worked just fine. I didn't have a single stretch mark...although that might have been due to genes, who knows. In the winter months I would put any creamy lotion on top of the coconut oil and it seemed to keep my belly soft and supple.

I like jojoba oil and coconut oil.

I like the Earth Mama Angel Baby Stretch Mark Oil and a dry brush. Maybe it's different/better than their body butter? It doesn't seem to stain clothes. My last pregnancy I just used coconut oil and the dry brush and that was nice but the coconut oil stained some shirts-I just wore undershirts under all my shirts.

I have been using Virgin Coconut Oil as well, I LOVE Virgin Coconut Oil!  I don't know if it's supposed to help with stretch marks, but it's what I have laying around and it feels luxurious... and I use it to keep away sunburn, and I figure if it can keep away sunburn from my pasty skin then it must be a miracle oil! orngbiggrin.gif

I would like to try this recipe for "Ruth's Belly Balm", but just haven't had the time (or the ingredients) to put it together:

At the end of the article, it also says that if you DO end up with stretch marks, that tamanu oil will help the scars heal and fade!  I have no idea what tamanu oil is but I'd like to get my hands on some! wink1.gif

I've been using this Badger Balm. It's not specifically for bellies, but we happened to have a tin of it in our medicine cabinet early on in my pregnancy, and I used it and really liked it. I've swapped out a few others (the nutmeg shea one and also the lavender one), but this one is really basic and it's done me well at 33 weeks!

Woodsprite body melt

Aura Cacia Apricot oil

Angel Face Botanicals Vanilla spice shea butter

I have really dry skin especially now that the weather started to turn. The body melt and the shea butter seem to protect better than just the oil but the oil is the cheapest!

A co worker keeps me in supply with SHEA BUTTER, all organic, unrefined, nonfragranced. Her sister lives in Africa and has set up a collective of women who make it and assists them with running the business. It is all fair trade and really helps the families in Africa where shea butter is native to. You can google

LULU LIFE to learn more and order some. The price is right and I have tried so many oils, salves, balms in my life and this stuff is really like butter. I love it and have to hide it form my partner b/c he will use it all!! I am almost 35weeks, first baby and not one stretch mark.
