Tiny toddler... when would you switch to FF? - Page 2

DD1 is tiny too and was RF until 5 yr 3 mo when we needed the seat for DD2

Both kiddos are RF in my car but FF in MIL's once a week. They are 2.5 and 4.5yo. I imagine I'll keep DS1 RF until baby number 3 arrives, and even then we will see how things go in our 3-across situation.

If he asked to be forward (and he does sometimes.. in GMIL's car he asked if he could and so I turned his seat around that day) then I'd turn him. DS2 I'd wait until age 3.5+ to take his preference into much consideration.

Evan was 5yr 2 mos and ffing, had not outgrown  his seat rfing but wanted to ff. I ffed #3 at 3yr 10 mos b/c I had to move the boys to different rows, she's 4 now and 35# and I'm ok w/ that.

Thank goodness LO (DD2) is small.  Her seat rear facing is the only way we can fit all the kids across in the backseat-Kia Spectra.  And even then it's a squeeze.  DS (7)  is in a harnessed combo seat-evenflo generations 65--bought for the higher harness weight limit because he was flirting with the limit of the last seat, DD1 (9) is regular seat belt, and DD2 (19 months and less than 20 lbs) is rf in a scenera.  So, she'll be RF at least until we buy a minivan, which won't be for a couple years.

dd1 is 3y5m, 32 lbs and rf (not sure of height; she's grown recently).  she knows other kids ff but she prefers rfing.  last month, we were in my mom's car and her seat wouldn't fit rfing and for the whole 1/2 hour ride she kept asking to have her seat turned backwards.

at her rate of growth, i feel like she'll be 10 before she hits the rfing limit of 45 lbs.  ideally, i'd like to keep her rfing until she's 4 but if she were to ask, i'd potentially turn her around.  after 4, i'll ask her what she wants to do and go from there.
