C25k - Page 2

I have asthma and some knee issues and C25K was a huge help for me. I realized that when I go at my own pace and think I am pacing running and walking well I actually push myself much harder than C25K does. On my own I run longer and more often in a 30 minute run than when I follow the program. I actually felt like I wasn't doing much of anything the first few weeks with C25K until I realized that the running I was doing was pain and asthma free!

I've been biking, lifting and jogging this week. The biking and lifting warms me up for the treadmill. Yesterday, I did the alternating jogging and walking, although my intervals were a little off. Today, I tried to, but DH called me in the middle of my workout and told me I had to get home with the car for a ds appt that I forgot about! I think I will call this coming week Week 1.

Do any of you use the c25k ipod apps? Which one/s do you like, and why?

Also, silly but important - how do you carry your ipod? jacket pocket? in hand?

Motivating to start tomorrow.

Week 3 for me smile.gif
I keep my iphone in my pocket or it sits in the cup holder of the treadmill. I had a case and clip, but it broke.

I just did the first day today!  It was tough for me, but not horrible.  I am not a runner. at. all.  I like having someone else tell me what to do and when to stop.  I did another 25mins of cardio on the elliptical afterwards, so I guess it wasn't killer :)

Good luck!

Tues/ Thurs/ Sun for me too, and this was w1d2 - still alive. I went with the Felt Tip/ Kwok and Searles app, realizing that the choice was not such a big deal at $3. Husband has joined me for the first 2, so my next real test of commitment will come when he doesn't go along with me.

Still wish I had a less jouncy pocket for my ipod touch.... maybe I'll have to make one!

I just finished week 3 and plan to start week 4 on Sunday. I've been biking a lot and doing some weight training as well. The last time I was really a runner was 10 years and 75 pounds ago, so I'm not a "runner" anymore, but I will be!! Today, I did something a little different. During the "walks", I shuffle-jogged at a 4mph pace. The walking was really hurting my knees and shins, but the shuffle seems to do me well. I think I will continue with this. I'm doing my runs at a 6mph pace, for now.

I don't use an iPod normally, but I've been using DH's to listen to the C25K podcast.  I have no pockets so I put the pod on the treadmill. The cord swung so much that the earbuds kept popping out of my ears.  Today I stuck the pod inside the strap of my sports bra. Worked pretty well :)

I wear the old-fashioned headphones. I can't keep those ear things in when I'm not running...

did w1d2 yesterday, still feeling good.. yea!

Today was w2d1.  The last two running bits were t.o.u.g.h. Tough.  I suspect it won't be as bad on Wednesday!

my w2d1 is tomorrow... fingers crossed, lol.

I just finished W1D2 today. The minute jog/runs seem to go by quickly. The walking intervals inbetween are great. I end up finishing a bit farther from home both days (weird jogging trail near my house) so I've walked an extra 5-10 minutes afterwards to get home. I've downloaded a free mp3 podcast (ullrey?) to listen to. Not crazy about the music, but I love the audio cues for running and walking. My big problem is that I hate pushing the jogging stroller while I am working out, but have to do so to train. Keep me motivated! ~maddymama

did w2d1 today.  felt great, only had to push myself through the last running interval.   hoping that will get easier by the end of the week!

Was supposed to do w2d1 on sunday, but I thought I was getting sick and it was soooo cold out. Nope, not sick - getting my period, so that was my excuse for not getting going on monday. But I DID do it today, so back on track.

I didn't find it as easy as you others who have reported back in, but I could totally do it, and still enjoyed it. So I'm still in. My knees definitely feel the work, but I know that losing weight will help with that, so this rhythm/ interval gradual work is best for me.

Curious:

does anyone else here take exercise breaks on day 1 of period?

is anyone else here over 40? (I'm 43)

is anyone else here wanting to lose more than 15 pounds? (I'm going for 20 - 25)

I must say that when I felt lazy before the workout today, I came here and read the recent posts and got inspired. Thanks!

Last Wednesday was the first day of my period, but I didn't know it until after I got home from the gym (I go at 6am). I might not have been so motivated later in the day.

I'm 32... and I have way more than 15 lbs to lose.  I'm looking at 50 at least.  But I'm not so focused on the numbers. I just want my clothes to fit :)
