C25k - Page 5

I run how I feel, kick it up when I feel good and knock it down to a shuffle when I think I'm going to quit. (They call this a fartlek in the real running world.) My goal is to not walk. I try to run at the pace I think I should be running at, but if I can't then I just do like I said. smile.gif I'm going for a 28 minute run today. I think I might run outdoors since the weather is nice. It'll be different not knowing what my pace is or how far I've gone.

w5d2 for me today.   not happy with everything.  got thru the first 8 min run easily, but then my mp3 player died in the first min. of the last 8 minute run, and all i could hear is my kids upstairs (with DH) screaming and fighting and thumping.    i totally lost concentration, and had to take 2 breaks in that last run.  not happy with myself (or them, sigh).   will do w5d2 again on tuesday, and hopefully i will get it all in then.   (with new batteries for my mp3, and at nap time).

i should feel happy that i ran 8 mins today... haven't done that in a long time!  but instead, i'm just frustrated that i didn't meet my goal for today.

Totally understand the frustration with not meeting your goal but an 8 minute run is awesome.

Shelley - I think it was week 5 where I had a blip too and had to repeat a day. No big deal. Some days are harder than others and some days you just feel like you could take on the world! I know you'll pick back up and do great!

Jamie - thanks for sharing your success! I hope that this group can go on to do a bridge to 10k thread. I'm on my final week of c25k and I could start the B210K thread next week...smile.gif

Great job shelley and pacific!
Thanks jamie for the compliment smile.gif
shelley - It took me 8 weeks. One of the weeks, I ran 6 days, but regretted it. I had to repeat some days, but never a whole week.

i missed my sunday run, so i'm doing w6d1 at nap time here soon.. should be easy compared to w5d3!   i can't believe that this is my last week of intervals, and i'm only 3 weeks away from "graduating" from the program!  this sure is flying by fast.

Finished Week 3 today. I have some travel coming up so it's going to be tricky. Should be able to do day 1 Week 4 on Saturday and maybe get day 2 in on Monday but then I won't get to run until Friday.

A bad case of bronchitis set me back, but I did w6d2 today as well!  Finishing the intervals was such a great feeling.  I can't wait to do the 25 min run on Monday!

I'm arriving a bit late to this party, but I am feeling so inspired by how well all of you are doing! thumbsup.gif

I ran outside with a running partner over the summer, but once we both went back to school full-time, we just didn't have time to get together. That, combined with the harsh (and long!) winter here, stopped me from running for a while. My husband and I bought a treadmill in January, and I've slowly been working up to running. I just finished Week 1, Day 3, and I'm starting Week 2 tomorrow. The hardest thing for me about running on a regular basis is my joint condition (joint hypermobility syndrome). I never know on any given day whether my body will let me run. So for me, the "weeks" of the C25K program might take a bit longer than a calendar week, but I'm going to do my best to stick with it!!

My question for all of you: What do you like to eat before/after a run? What gives you enough energy to get through it?

Not sure how good this is for me, but my standard is a plain latte and a cherry pie lara bar about an hour before I go to the gym.  After I love greek yogurt and a large glass of water.

since i do my runs first thing in the morning, all i really eat is a banana and some water... if i eat much more than that, i feel barfy when i run... so i eat oatmeal or something more filling after my run!
