Pearled Barley?

I have some organic pearled barley I want to cook.  Any suggestions?  Must be healthy and clean.

I use it in a hot cereal. Or it works well in soup, too.

I'll be tossing some into soup I'm making later today.

Soups and chili's.  Sometimes bread.

I cook it like a risotto.

I think barley in soup is one of the most comforting things about soup!

This is what I do, too. It's really yummy this way.

Works great in chicken soup or veggie soup. Rinse the barley, and let it soak for an hour or so (overnight if you can). Put in in the soup pot after other ingredients, bring to boil and let simmer for an hour. Also I love it in a jumbaliya type stew. Great rice/grain substitute.

With barley, the water to barley ratio is 4:1, so it sucks up a lot of water. Just remember that in whatever you cook.

I made it in my rice cooker with sliced mushrooms and chicken stock.  The kids loved it!

Clean?

You can make a lovely soup with barley, leeks, celery, carrots, some thyme branches and beef bones.

I made this chili with pearl barley instead of the bulgur:
